Is FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino circling the drain? His former Fox News colleague says so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Sunday, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson essentially hosted a funeral for Bongino’s career and credibility after the former Fox contributor reportedly threatened to resign over Attorney General Pam Bondi’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Culture Apothecary<\/em><\/a>, host Alex Clark asked Carlson to weigh in on the feud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWell, as we\u2019re recording this, Dan Bongino is threatening to resign if Pam Bondi does not resign as AG. What does that tell us, in your opinion?\u201d she inquired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWell, it tells us that Dan Bongino got shafted, completely shafted. And I\u2019m saying this as a friend of his, and someone who respects and likes him, but also just as an observer, I\u2019m an informed observer of it,\u201d replied Carlson. \u201cSo Pam Bondi, who\u2019s, by the way, I don\u2019t hate Pam Bondi, she\u2019s a totally nice person. If he was here, you would enjoy-, I don\u2019t know if you know her, but she\u2019s a very nice person. I\u2019m not against Pam Bondi in the slightest. But the fact is she got on television on Fox News and started saying stuff like, \u2018I\u2019ve got the client list on my desk!\u2019 And actually, no, you don\u2019t. And, \u2018I\u2019ve got thousands of videos of Epstein having sex with kids.\u2019 Well, actually, no, you don\u2019t. Most of the material was commercial porn taken off his computer. Like, that\u2019s just not true. Why did she say that? Probably because she\u2019s insecure and she\u2019s trying to please the audience, I would expect.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDo you think Dan is upset because his integrity is being questioned now over her mistake?\u201d followed up Clark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOf course! Oh my gosh! So you\u2019re Dan, and you\u2019re a media figure, and you\u2019ve got one of the biggest podcasts in the country, and you\u2019re making tons of money, and you\u2019re having a great time \u2014 which he was. You just built this brand new studio in Florida, you work with your wife who you really like, which he does, and you get the call saying, \u2018You be deputy FBI director,\u2019 and you\u2019re like, \u2018I love\u00a0Donald Trump, I love this country. I will cut my pay into a 10th of what it was, and I will leave my house and move to D.C.,\u2019 which is a kind of prison sentence itself,\u201d answered Carlson. \u201c\u2018And I will do this because I love the president, I love the country,\u2019 and you\u2019re there a few months, and all of a sudden everybody thinks you\u2019re covering up Epstein\u2019s crimes, and it kind of wrecks Dan\u2019s career. Like he can\u2019t go back-, it\u2019s gonna be very hard at this point, I mean, things may change, but as of today, pretty hard for Dan to go back to his podcast audience and be like, \u2018I\u2019m telling you the truth,\u2019 when they all think that he\u2019s covering up for Epstein.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n \u201cWho did that? Pam Bondi did that,\u201d he added, before going on to say he \u201cfeel[s]\u201d for Bongino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Justice Department last week released a memo<\/a> concluding there was no evidence suggesting the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender kept a \u201cclient list\u201d to blackmail high-profile individuals. The memo also found no evidence to suggest foul play in Epstein\u2019s death, which had previously been ruled a suicide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The memo spurred fierce backlash from many Trump supporters, who had long called on the government to release material on Epstein that they argue would expose wrongdoing at the highest level of elite circles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dan Bongino, the Deputy Director of the FBI, reportedly threatened to leave the bureau if Attorney General Pam Bondi remains on the job due to her handling of the Epstein files, a source close to Bongino told The Daily Wire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One source close to Bongino predicted to Axios, \u201cHe ain\u2019t coming back.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n CNN reports <\/a>that Trump \u2014 who has been\u00a0desperate to move past the Epstein story<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 was furious at Bongino, as well as FBI Director\u00a0Kash Patel. Vice President\u00a0JD Vance\u00a0reportedly tried to hammer out a peace between the administration\u2019s top Justice Department officials. But CNN reports that Bongino is still very much hanging by a thread.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt remains to be seen if Bongino ultimately resigns, which he told others he was considering,\u201d the CNN report stated. \u201cBut sources say his relationship with the White House has become basically untenable. Even if he does not quit now, some inside the administration believe he will not stay in the job long-term.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n However, President Donald Trump said on Sunday he believes FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino is \u201cin good shape\u201d following a reported clash with Attorney General Pam Bondi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI spoke to him today,\u201d Trump told<\/a> reporters at Joint Base Andrews. \u201cDan Bongino, very good guy. I\u2019ve known him a long time. I\u2019ve done his show many, many times. And he sounded terrific actually. No, I think he\u2019s in good shape.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Watch:\n
