Christie has long denied any knowledge of the plan. He could not immediately be reached for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It was not immediately clear what aspect of Christie\u2019s Sunday appearance on ABC\u2019s \u201cThis Week\u201d had led President Trump to threaten him on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Christie mentioned the president by name after he was asked by the journalist Jonathan Karl whether Vice President JD Vance, who has defended the criminal investigation into Mr. Bolton, is playing a role in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Christie responded by mentioning what he called the administration\u2019s disregard for the idea of separation between the president and criminal investigations. He noted that Mr. Trump had recently described himself as the nation\u2019s \u201cchief law enforcement officer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDonald Trump sees himself as the person who gets to decide everything, and he doesn\u2019t care about any separation,\u201d Christie told Karl<\/a>. \u201cIn fact, he absolutely rejects the idea that there should be separation between criminal investigations and the politically elected leader of the United States.
