Darcy\u2019s reporting was later backed up by CNN\u2019s chief media analyst\u00a0Brian Stelter, who wrote in his Reliable Sources newsletter, \u201cCNN has already said that its journalists will not accept the new restrictions. I\u2019m told that Fox News, NBC, ABC, CBS and CNN will issue a joint statement later today saying much the same thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
The push by Hegseth has now been\u00a0slammed across the board\u00a0by newspapers and networks \u2014 such as\u00a0The New York Times<\/em>,\u00a0The Atlantic<\/em>, CNN, Newsmax and\u00a0The Guardian<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 with the only outlet reportedly agreeing to the new terms being One America News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\nThe Pentagon Press Association condemned the policy, saying: \u201cThis Wednesday, most Pentagon Press Association members seem likely to hand over their badges rather than acknowledge a policy that gags Pentagon employees and threatens retaliation against reporters who seek out information that has not been pre-approved for release.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Pentagon spokesperson\u00a0Sean Parnell\u00a0dismissed concerns on Monday, accusing reporters of a \u201cfull-blown meltdown\u201d in a statement to Status and insisting the policy \u201cis what\u2019s best for our troops and the national security of this country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
