Trump has occasionally suggested he may run for a third term and even has\u00a0\u201cTrump 2028\u201d hats\u00a0in the Oval Office, much to the chagrin of his Democrat rivals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Monday, Trump declined to rule out running again when asked by a reporter which has prompted a fresh wave of meltdowns from liberal lawmakers and pundits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President made the admission while aboard Air Force One as it headed to South Korea on Tuesday night, or late Wednesday morning, local time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cI would say that, if you read it, it\u2019s pretty clear,\u201d Trump said, referring to the Constitution during an in-flight gaggle with reporters. \u201cI\u2019m not allowed to run. It\u2019s too bad. I mean, it\u2019s too bad. But we have a lot of great people.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
On Monday, Trump also\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0Vice President\u00a0JD Vance\u00a0and Secretary of State\u00a0Marc Rubio\u00a0would be great Republican presidential nominees, setting up a potential rivalry between the two ahead of 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A number of Republicans have claimed that Trump could in theory serve another term in the White House, potentially even as Vice President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sen.\u00a0Tommy Tuberville\u00a0(R-AL)\u00a0suggested<\/a>\u00a0that the president \u201cmight be able to go around the Constitution\u201d to serve a third term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cIf you read the Constitution, it says it\u2019s not [possible],\u201d Tuberville stated. \u201cBut if he says he has some different circumstances that might be able to go around the Constitution. But that\u2019s up to him. We got a long way to go before that happens.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Serving a third term is not \u201cup to\u201d the president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A reporter then said, \u201cBut you\u2019re open to it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, I think that there\u2019s going to be\u2013 have to have to be an evaluation from President Trump\u2019s viewpoint to the Constitution,\u201d the senator replied. \u201cThere will be a lot of legal aspects to it. Will it happen? It\u2019s very unlikely. But, don\u2019t ever close the book on President Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
His former adviser,\u00a0Steve Bannon, has ralso epeatedly\u00a0claimed\u00a0Trump can serve another term and that \u201cthere\u2019s a plan\u201d in place, and that the president will win in 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, despite some calls for Trump to potentially amend the Constitution, House Speaker Mike Johnson soundly rejected the proposal earlier this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think the president knows, and he and I have talked about the constrictions of the Constitution,\u201d the speaker\u00a0said<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t see a way to amend the Constitution, because it takes 10 years to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the glaring Constitutional issues associated with President Donald Trump serving a third term- which Trump has openly admitted to- Democrats still can’t pass on an opportunity to stage a meltdown over the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom said he is “deeply concerned” about remarks from President Donald Trump and his close allies about possibly seeking a third term in 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Newsom, who is widely considered a potential 2028 presidential contender himself, was asked by ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl if he takes such talk seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
