The Tucker Carlson Show<\/em>, the former Fox News star delivered one of his most scathing rebukes yet of the president, accusing Trump \u2014 without initially naming him \u2014 of abandoning everyday Americans and flatly declaring: \u201cYou have failed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe blistering monologue marks a dramatic escalation in Carlson\u2019s increasingly bitter split from the man he once championed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carlson opened by torching radio host Mark Levin, a staunch defender of the U.S.-Israel military campaign against Iran, which began Feb. 28. Levin and Carlson had both lobbied Trump behind closed doors in the weeks leading up to the strikes \u2014 Levin pushing for war, Carlson urging restraint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But Carlson quickly pivoted from Levin to a far more explosive target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Without saying Trump\u2019s name, Carlson made it unmistakably clear who he was addressing \u2014 accusing the president of turning his back on struggling Americans and even harboring contempt for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cYou hate people like that,\u201d Carlson stated. \u201cAnd there may be other reasons you hate them, but you certainly hate them because they are a reminder of how you have failed. You have not done a good job running this country. You don\u2019t even care to try. You\u2019d rather run the world or the empire. You don\u2019t want to improve Baltimore. You don\u2019t care about Gary, Indiana. Rural America makes you sick\u2026 Normal leaders would ask themselves, \u2018Why are people mad? What are they dissatisfied with? How can I help them? They\u2019re clearly in pain.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Carlson then zeroed in on the Iran conflict \u2014 calling it the defining failure of Trump\u2019s presidency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cThey\u2019ve never looked inward once in 10 years,\u201d he continued, shifting from \u201cyou\u201d to \u201cthey.\u201d \u201cAnd now they\u2019ve reached the point of maximum frustration, where the biggest thing they\u2019ve ever done, which is try to regime-change the Iranian government, and it hasn\u2019t worked. That\u2019s the biggest thing they\u2019ve ever done. They staked everything on that. And you should just know that at this point, now that that\u2019s not working out, they will not be mad at themselves. They\u2019re gonna be mad at you for not liking it or appreciating it or for talking about it at all. Or for holding on to your outdated expectations about what life in this country was like then and should be now.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
