This has been a challenging time for us and is hard to talk about.  But so many of you have reached out asking how he\u2019s doing, and sharing your prayers and well wishes with us.  We made this video\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kcVfzJyncI\">pic.twitter.com\/kcVfzJyncI<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Tulsi Gabbard \ud83c\udf3a (@TulsiGabbard) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TulsiGabbard\/status\/2090424874971877649?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 20, 2026<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cA few weeks after the surgery was done, the pathologist and the doctors said that they are confident that they were able to cut out all of the cancerous bone and tissue,\u201d Gabbard said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/person\/tulsi-gabbard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nearly three months after the operation, Williams is now participating in what Gabbard described as a \u201cvery rigorous physical therapy program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe gets frustrated a lot because he wants to be able to make progress faster, and sometimes he\u2019s pushed a little bit too far, but overall, Abraham is progressing very well,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still, Gabbard cautioned that the couple\u2019s ordeal is far from finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe reality is that the battle isn\u2019t over yet,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williams will require frequent MRI scans to monitor whether the cancer returns in the same location or spreads elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sacral chordoma is a slow-growing cancer that forms near the base of the spine. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.gov\/pediatric-adult-rare-tumor\/rare-tumors\/rare-bone-tumors\/chordoma?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Cancer Institute<\/a>, approximately one in every million people worldwide is diagnosed with chordoma each year. Surgery is the preferred treatment when possible, but removing the entire tumor can be difficult because of its proximity to nerves, blood vessels and other critical tissue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gabbard said Williams was given a choice between radiation and an invasive operation requiring surgeons to remove part of his sacrum and tailbone. The couple opted for surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The nearly eight-hour procedure was successful, but the immediate aftermath was harrowing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Williams emerged from heavy anesthesia, his body reacted severely to the drugs. Gabbard recalled that he repeatedly insisted on trying to walk\u2014with the assistance of nurses\u2014even as he became sick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe would take a few steps. He would throw up as he was trying to walk around, but he kept going,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williams also declined narcotic pain medication, forcing him to push through the intense postoperative pain with other forms of treatment, Gabbard said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The diagnosis prompted Gabbard to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/exclusive-tulsi-gabbard-resigns-from-trump-cabinet?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">resign from President Donald Trump\u2019s Cabinet<\/a> in May so she could support her husband throughout his treatment.
