{"id":12931,"date":"2026-10-05T14:23:54","date_gmt":"2026-10-05T18:23:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=12931"},"modified":"2026-10-05T14:23:55","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T18:23:55","slug":"ted-cruz-blasts-insecure-jd-vance-as-2028-rivalry-heats-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/news\/ted-cruz-blasts-insecure-jd-vance-as-2028-rivalry-heats-up\/njackson\/2026\/10\/","title":{"rendered":"Ted Cruz Blasts \u2018Insecure\u2019 JD Vance As 2028 Rivalry Heats Up"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The midterms aren\u2019t over, but Ted Cruz and JD Vance are already trading punches over what comes next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Texas Republican fired back at the vice president Saturday, accusing him of \u201cpolitical bomb-throwing\u201d after Vance suggested Cruz was already running for president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn my experience, people engage in political bomb-throwing when they\u2019re feeling insecure,\u201d Cruz told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2026\/10\/03\/ted-cruz-blasts-jd-vance-as-insecure-says-hes-focused-on-helping-gop-win-midterms-01106033\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Politico in a Saturday interview<\/a>, according to The Hill\u2019s report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSo he\u2019s welcome to make whatever comments he likes,\u201d Cruz continued. \u201cI\u2019m going to keep focusing on the midterms and helping us win on Election Day in the next 30 days.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That sharp response came after Vance questioned the senator\u2019s priorities in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/jd-vance\/vance-2028-ted-cruz-midterm-climate-future-rcna600312\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">interview with NBC News<\/a> Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is really obvious to me that, at this very moment, Ted Cruz is running for president,\u201d Vance said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAt this moment, I\u2019m not. I\u2019m trying to help elect Republicans. That\u2019s what I\u2019m going to keep on doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cruz Reminds Vance Who Helped Him Win<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cruz countered by pointing to his own work campaigning for Republican candidates \u2014 and reminding Vance that those efforts once included him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The senator told Politico he helped Vance during his successful 2022 Senate campaign in Ohio, according to The Hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI was very glad he won that race,\u201d Cruz said. \u201cI was very glad to help him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The message was pointed: Before Vance was questioning Cruz\u2019s political ambitions, Cruz was helping him climb the ladder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both men insist November is their immediate priority. But their public exchange is putting the competition to succeed President Trump on display more than two years before the next presidential election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A Front-Runner, But No Coronation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vance is widely viewed as the early front-runner for the 2028 Republican nomination. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also figured prominently in speculation about Trump\u2019s successor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cruz, however, has made clear he isn\u2019t ready to concede the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ll certainly be part of the discussion,\u201d he told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ms.now\/news\/cruz-says-gop-has-not-settled-on-vance-for-2028\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MS NOW in August<\/a>, while suggesting Republicans had not settled on Vance as their next nominee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cruz previously sought the nomination in 2016, losing to Trump. His recent campaign travel has included Iowa and South Carolina, states with prominent roles in the presidential nominating process, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/politics\/jd-vance-says-its-really-obvious-that-ted-cruz-is-running-for-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mediaite reported in its coverage of Vance\u2019s NBC interview<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vance, meanwhile, acknowledged in that interview that the midterm results could help inform his own decision about a presidential run, according to Mediaite.
