His wife reportedly has another address in mind: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lauren S\u00e1nchez Bezos is encouraging the Amazon founder to consider a future in politics \u2014 and can envision herself as first lady \u2014 according to an October 2 report by celebrity gossip columnist Rob Shuter in his <a href=\"https:\/\/robshuter.substack.com\/p\/exclusive-lauren-sanchez-pushing-9b8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Naughty But Nice<\/em> Substack.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report offers an intriguing window into the couple\u2019s alleged private conversations. But it comes with a significant qualifier: Shuter\u2019s sources say there is no campaign and no indication Bezos has decided to seek office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLauren loves the idea of President Bezos,\u201d an unnamed source told Shuter. \u201cShe talks about legacy, influence and what Jeff could do that money alone cannot buy. And yes, she can absolutely see herself as First Lady.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Shuter, S\u00e1nchez\u2019s fascination with Washington intensified after the couple attended President Donald Trump\u2019s state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping. Their attendance at the September 24 gathering was documented in coverage of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dinner put the billionaire couple back inside the White House. Whether Bezos wants to move in remains another matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Presidential Push \u2014 Or A Billionaire\u2019s Fantasy?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shuter\u2019s sources describe S\u00e1nchez as someone looking beyond her husband\u2019s business accomplishments toward a potentially bigger legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLauren looks at Jeff and sees someone who conquered business, built a space company and became one of the most powerful men alive,\u201d an insider told the columnist. \u201cHer question is always: What\u2019s left? In her mind, the presidency is the ultimate final act.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shuter is a longtime entertainment journalist and former celebrity publicist whose clients included Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Simpson. He also served as executive editor of the U.S. edition of <em>OK!<\/em> magazine and co-hosted VH1\u2019s <em>The Gossip Table<\/em>. His reporting comes from the world of celebrity insiders, rather than a presidential campaign announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other outlets, including The Post Millennial, have picked up his Bezos report. Their coverage cites Shuter\u2019s sources, rather than independently establishing that the billionaire is weighing a run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even within Shuter\u2019s account, enthusiasm is hardly unanimous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSome people think it\u2019s complete fantasy,\u201d an insider told him. \u201cBut Lauren doesn\u2019t dream small. She can already picture President Bezos \u2014 and herself standing beside him as First Lady.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From Trump Feud To White House Guest<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The political backdrop adds a twist: Bezos has been warming to the president he once publicly sparred with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During their earlier feud, Trump attacked Amazon and Bezos\u2019 ownership of The Washington Post. Bezos responded in 2015 by joking about reserving Trump a seat on a Blue Origin rocket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Years later, the relationship looked considerably different. Bezos and S\u00e1nchez dined with Trump at Mar-a-Lago in December 2024, and Bezos attended his January 2025 inauguration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before Trump returned to office, Bezos also expressed support for his push to reduce regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m actually very optimistic this time around,\u201d Bezos said at the December 2024 New York Times DealBook Summit. He indicated he wanted to help with that effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump reciprocated. In a March 2025 interview reported by Fox News, he called Bezos \u201ca good guy\u201d and described their improved relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those developments establish that Bezos has become more comfortable around Trump and Washington\u2019s power circles.
