He said he wants her \u201cto be happy\u201d and accused the news media of treating her unfairly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Briefing That Became The Story<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zacharia\u2019s Tuesday debut lasted roughly 14 minutes and included just three questions, from Breitbart, Fox News and the Daily Mail. She also briefly referred to her husband as \u201cmy president\u201d before correcting herself \u2014 a stumble that quickly became fodder for critics, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/saradorn\/2026\/10\/13\/new-white-house-press-secretary-katie-zacharia-cites-stint-in-china-when-asked-about-her-law-career\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Forbes reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki compared the appearance to a \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d skit. Anthony Scaramucci, whose stint as Trump\u2019s communications director lasted just 11 days, publicly started counting down her tenure. Trump initially praised her performance, telling reporters Tuesday, \u201cI thought she was very good.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zacharia told Hannity she had received briefing materials Tuesday morning and had little preparation time, according to Fox News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bar Exam Questions Take Over<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The media has also seized on Zacharia\u2019s failed bar exam and her public identification as a lawyer. Trump described her as an attorney when announcing her appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That coverage now includes an acknowledgment from Zacharia herself. During Thursday\u2019s appearance on Sean Hannity\u2019s Fox News program, she confirmed that she had not passed the exam and had never retaken it, <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.com\/Politics\/white-house-press-secretary-katie-zacharia-pass-bar\/story?id=137299415\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ABC News reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier Thursday, she told Real America\u2019s Voice that she took the exam after graduating from Pepperdine\u2019s law school in 2011 but considered the results \u201csomewhat inconsequential\u201d because she planned to move to China, where she subsequently worked in international transaction law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She also said legal professionals had advised her that she could describe herself as a lawyer providing legal analysis, distinguishing that from an attorney providing legal advice, according to ABC News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Questions intensified after she responded to a reporter asking where she passed the bar by referring to her move to China.
