{"id":12981,"date":"2026-10-19T10:13:56","date_gmt":"2026-10-19T14:13:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=12981"},"modified":"2026-10-19T10:13:57","modified_gmt":"2026-10-19T14:13:57","slug":"james-carville-reveals-the-democrat-victory-hed-rather-see-republicans-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/news\/james-carville-reveals-the-democrat-victory-hed-rather-see-republicans-win\/njackson\/2026\/10\/","title":{"rendered":"James Carville Reveals The Democrat Victory He\u2019d Rather See Republicans Win"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Democratic strategist James Carville wants his party to win big in November \u2014 because a narrow victory could hand democratic socialists the keys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The veteran operative told Bill Kristol on <em>Bulwark on Sunday<\/em> that he would actually prefer Republicans holding the House by five seats over Democrats winning by the same margin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His concern: A small socialist faction could dictate terms to Democratic leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI would rather the Republicans keep the House by five than the Democrats to win by five because if that happens, they\u2019re hostage to the DSA,\u201d Carville said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/online\/james-carville-says-hed-rather-gop-win-house-by-5-seats-than-dems-win-by-5-theyd-be-hostage-to-dsa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mediaite<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries, Carville warned, that would mean paralysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLike Hakeem cannot move. There\u2019s no place for him to go.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Majority With Strings Attached<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Carville\u2019s warning comes as the Democratic Socialists of America works to turn primary victories into leverage on Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/politics\/elections\/the-democratic-socialists-have-a-plan-to-push-hakeem-jeffries-to-the-left-28735026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Wall Street Journal reported<\/a> that DSA-backed candidates are coordinating to press Jeffries for policy concessions. Four of seven candidates interviewed either declined to commit to supporting him for speaker or said they wanted assurances first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a closely divided chamber, that could give a small bloc considerable bargaining power over Democratic leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is the scenario Carville fears: Democrats winning enough seats to take responsibility for governing, while leaving their leaders dependent on a faction pushing them further left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSo, I think this is one of these races where margin matters a lot,\u201d he told Kristol. \u201cMargin is winning big, it\u2019s almost as big as winning, which is weird, but yeah, it\u2019s a nightmare, 225 [seats].\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Maher Sounds His Own Alarm<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Carville is hardly the only prominent liberal raising concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bill Maher, the comedian and host of HBO\u2019s <em>Real Time<\/em>, has warned that the Democratic Party\u2019s direction could cost it his support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his July 31 monologue, Maher said his vote was \u201cin play\u201d if Democrats continued moving toward the DSA. He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2026\/08\/01\/maher_the_democratic_party_is_being_colonized_by_communists_my_vote_is_in_play.html\">described<\/a> the party as being \u201ccolonized\u201d and argued that voters should take radical candidates\u2019 stated positions seriously. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maher\u2019s objections went beyond campaign branding. He criticized proposals to eliminate police and prisons and overhaul the constitutional separation of powers, arguing that such ideas threaten institutions Americans depend on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also acknowledged that most Democratic politicians do not share those positions, while faulting the party for failing to confront the faction promoting them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI would vote for Sarah Palin before this shit,\u201d Maher said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Carville\u2019s latest remarks bring that internal fight directly into the battle for Congress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Democrats, his warning is blunt: Winning the House could come with a price if the deciding votes belong to socialists determined to collect.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic strategist James Carville wants his party to win big in November \u2014 because a narrow victory could hand democratic socialists the keys.
