Dhillon\u2019s account points to an earlier decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Jewish Insider, Dhillon told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/doj-civil-rights-chief-harmeet-dhillon-resigns-says-white-house-asked-her-wait-until-after-midterms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox News Digital<\/a> that she had informed White House chief of staff Susie Wiles of her intention to leave three weeks before Election Day. Wiles asked her to wait until after the midterms, and Dhillon submitted her formal resignation letter Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI wasn\u2019t asked to resign,\u201d Dhillon told Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her interest in returning to private practice was already public. Bloomberg Law reported that Dhillon said during an August interview that she intended to return to her California-based law firm after her government service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dhillon\u2019s departure removes a prominent advocate for Trump\u2019s legal agenda from a division she substantially reshaped after her April 2025 confirmation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bloomberg Law reported that the division expanded its focus on religious liberty, established a Second Amendment section and recruited attorneys with conservative advocacy backgrounds following an exodus of career lawyers. Its work also included litigation involving state voter rolls, immigration and alleged campus antisemitism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In announcing her departure on X, Dhillon highlighted the division\u2019s challenges to diversity, equity and inclusion programs and its efforts involving women\u2019s and girls\u2019 sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI want to thank President Trump for giving me this opportunity,\u201d she wrote, according to The Tribune\u2019s account of her statement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Attorney General Todd Blanche offered a public endorsement of her service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe has defended the civil liberties of every American and enforced the law without fear or favor,\u201d Blanche said in a statement reported by ABC News.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other reporting suggested tensions behind the scenes. ABC News, citing sources, reported that Trump had privately expressed frustration over the division\u2019s mounting court losses.
