ANALYSIS \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Most conservatives and even some liberal\u00a0free speech\u00a0advocates applauded\u00a0Elon Musk\u2019s takeover of\u00a0Twitter, a Big Tech hotbed of leftist narratives and anti-conservative\u00a0censorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many leftists, outraged that they could no longer simply cancel opposing conservative views, squealed and threatened to leave Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, they made their threats on Twitter, then waited on Twitter to see the reactions on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, since his tumultuous takeover, Musk has worried some supporters by apparently quickly engaging in the same capricious censorship he so strongly decried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Going after critics, including the college kid who tracks his plane using publicly available open-source information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most recently Musk put his Twitter CEO-ship on the line by asking Twitter users to vote online about whether he should remain \u2018Chief Twit.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not surprisingly, considering residual leftism left at Twitter, Musk lost that poll and may soon step down and appoint someone else to run the Twitter show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, despite the turmoil and concerns brought on by Musk\u2019s Twitter takeover, many see this dramatic move as an even more dramatic shift in the\u00a0media ecosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A momentous move to the right and against the dominant liberal media megaphone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Axios<\/a> writes: \u201cElon Musk and allies are building a new anti-left media ecosystem almost overnight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It continues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why it matters:<\/strong> It\u2019s as if the New York<\/a> Times editorial page suddenly flipped to the right.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the reins in Musk\u2019s hands,<\/strong> the right is gaining power in online spaces the left once dominated, Axios\u2019 Erica Pandey reports.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Axios adds: \u201cLook who\u2019s driving the news on Twitter<\/strong>\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And notes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anti-mainstream-media journalists <\/strong>\u2014 like Bari Weiss and Matt Taibbi \u2014 are driving the narrative<\/a>, getting the clicks and earning new followers on Musk\u2019s Twitter.<\/em> They\u2019re thriving in an environment where alternative, anti-left and anti-establishment media has taken center stage.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

To the folks at Axios, \u201cMusk\u2019s moves at Twitter are part of a larger \u2014 growing \u2014 anti-left, alternative media ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To buttress their case, they point to Joe Rogan\u2019s populist podcast, which has a heavily conservative fan base and was the most listened-to show of the second half of 2022, according to Edison Research<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not to be outdone, Axios notes, Ben Shapiro\u2019s more intellectual conservative podcast is now No. 7 \u2014 and rising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a conservative, I can only hope this is the beginning of a major shift from the leftist-dominated media landscape to a far more balanced one where conservative points of view are given the respect they deserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s see where this all leads as we head into the 2024 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
