{"id":3925,"date":"2023-04-24T15:39:07","date_gmt":"2023-04-24T19:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=3925"},"modified":"2023-04-24T15:39:07","modified_gmt":"2023-04-24T19:39:07","slug":"maga-congressman-stuns-with-new-bill-to-defund-trumps-soros-backed-prosecutor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/opinion\/maga-congressman-stuns-with-new-bill-to-defund-trumps-soros-backed-prosecutor\/dferguson\/2023\/04\/","title":{"rendered":"MAGA Congressman Stuns With New Bill to Defund Trump\u2019s Soros-backed Prosecutor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With former President Donald Trump now indicted and facing prosecution from an activist liberal prosecutor, while criminals roam free in his city, one member of Congress is taking action to stop the use of federal funds to prosecute political opponents while ignoring violent crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congressman Andy Biggs (R-AZ) introduced two bills to strip federal taxpayer funding from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and other \u201creform\u201d prosecutors elected with the backing of liberal billionaire George Soros.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biggs\u2019 \u201cAccountability for Lawless Violence In Our Neighborhoods Act\u201d or \u201cALVIN Act \u201cprohibits federal funds from being awarded to the Manhattan District Attorney\u2019s Office and requires Bragg to repay federal funds granted after January 1, 2022. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biggs has also introduced the \u201cNo Federal Funds for Political Prosecutions Act,\u201d which prohibits state or local law enforcement agencies from using funds or property seized through asset forfeiture, to investigate or prosecute the President, Vice President, or a candidate for the office of President in a criminal case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDistrict Attorney Alvin Bragg ran on a campaign pledge to indict President Trump. Bragg took the unprecedented action of converting alleged minor business misdemeanors to 34 individual felonies in an attempt to put President Trump behind bars and humiliate him and his supporters,\u201d said Biggs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis weaponized prosecutor&#8217;s office has spent thousands of federal taxpayer dollars to subsidize this political indictment and is demanding millions more in federal grants,\u201d said Biggs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s disturbing to see District Attorney Bragg waste federal resources for political purposes rather than addressing the serious crime in his city,\u201d Biggs added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs a member of the House Judiciary and Oversight &amp; Accountability Committees, and with an almost insurmountable national debt that exceeds $31 trillion, the nation simply cannot afford to support Mr. Bragg\u2019s politicization of the criminal justice system,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cosponsors of the Accountability for Lawless Violence In Our Neighborhoods Act or the ALVIN Act include: Rep.
