Fox News<\/a> and Dominion Voting Systems<\/a> are pushing back on a recent report suggesting Tucker Carlson<\/a>\u2019s sudden exit from the network was part of an agreement between the parties to settle a defamation suit out of court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, The Variety report<\/a> quoted an anonymous source who claimed Dominion sought to deal a major blow to the network\u2019s viewership as part of the deal and demanded Carlson be fired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat condition was intended to hurt Fox, and Tucker is just collateral damage,\u201d the source told the outlet. \u201cDominion wanted to punish Fox, and it\u2019s working.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Fox and Dominion denied the source\u2019s claim when contacted by The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs the Fox principals who negotiated the settlement well know, Dominion made no demands about Tucker Carlson\u2019s employment orally or in writing,\u201d the voting systems company said. \u201cAny claims otherwise are categorically false and a thinly veiled effort to further damage Dominion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFox should take every effort to stop these lies immediately,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Last month, Fox News reached a last-minute settlement with Dominion over the network’s coverage of then-President Trump’s voter fraud claims in the 2020 presidential election. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Details of the deal were not immediately disclosed but Dominion lawyer Justin Nelson said the settlement was reached at around $787.5 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, Fox News Media said<\/a> the network was \u201cpleased\u201d to reach a settlement and that it acknowledged \u201cthe Court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
