{"id":4204,"date":"2023-05-23T15:14:03","date_gmt":"2023-05-23T19:14:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=4204"},"modified":"2023-05-23T15:14:07","modified_gmt":"2023-05-23T19:14:07","slug":"judge-sets-date-for-trump-hush-money-trial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/news\/judge-sets-date-for-trump-hush-money-trial\/njackson\/2023\/05\/","title":{"rendered":"Judge Sets Date For Trump &#8216;Hush Money&#8217; Trial"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Donald Trump is going to trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Tuesday, the former president appeared in a New York City virtual court hearing Tuesday, where a judge announced when the blockbuster trial will commence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump will go on trial on March 25, 2024- months before the 2024 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump has been prohibited from sharing any evidence turned over by the Manhattan District Attorney&#8217;s Office during pre-trial discovery on social media while the case is ongoing, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/trump-stand-trial-march-2024-hush-money-payments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New York State Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan imposed the protective order May 8 but stopped short of imposing a gag order.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Tuesday, he appeared next to his attorney, Todd Blanche.\u00a0During the hearing, Merchan asked Trump if he has a copy of the protective order.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Yes, I do,&#8221; Trump replied.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mechan then asked Blanche if he has explained to Trump that it constitutes a &#8220;mandate order&#8221; and warned that &#8220;violations could result in sanctions,&#8221; that &#8220;could include a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/entertainment\/events\/in-court\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">finding of contempt<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump faces 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, a New York grand jury voted to indict former President\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?s=Donald+Trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0for his alleged role in a hush money bribe to adult film star\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?s=Stormy+Daniels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stormy Daniels<\/a>\u00a0amid the 2016 presidential election in DA Alvin Bragg\u2019s yearslong investigation into the real estate mogul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York opted out of charging Trump related to the Daniels payment in 2019.
