A left-wing Swiss billionaire has been bankrolling the voting systems used in American elections, with an alleged bias toward liberals, a U.S. senator reveals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN), a member of the Senate Rules Committee, pressed Benjamin Hovland, Vice Chair of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC), on foreign influence in U.S. elections through what he called \u201ca new form of Zuckerbucks: partisan, foreign-backed funding for local election administrators through the U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hagerty calls it a \u201chighly problematic scheme in which left-wing organizations provide substantial, foreign-funded resources for conducting American elections at the local level.\u201d
Much of the funding comes from Hansj\u00f6rg Wyss, a Swiss billionaire and multi-million dollar donor to left-wing causes through his \u201cHub Project.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is an $80 million initiative, funded by a web of left-wing entities, to \u2018help\u2019 local election administrators conduct elections,\u201d Hagerty explained. \u201cIt\u2019s a new form of \u2018Zuckerbucks,\u2019 is what it is. This network of entities has received tens\u2014if not hundreds\u2014of millions of dollars from a foreign left-wing billionaire named Hansj\u00f6rg Wyss. He\u2019s not a U.S. Citizen, so he can\u2019t contribute directly to our elections, but he\u2019s found a way to be involved in our elections.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAfter being repeatedly pressed by Hagerty to acknowledge whether foreign donations used to conduct American elections are acceptable, Vice Chair Hovland conceded that this interference is inappropriate,\u201d a statement from Hagerty’s office reveals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAbsolutely not. Of course not,\u201d Vice Chair Hovland answered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI want to be clear with that because what this is is Zuckerbucks 2.0 coming from a foreign billionaire involving themselves in our elections. What I want to make certain is that this Commission\u2014that no Election Assistance Commission dollars are commingled in any way with these foreign funds,\u201d said Hagerty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
