Ron DeSantis has his eyes on the prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Florida governor and White House contender said he is not interested in becoming Donald Trump’s running mate if given the chance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think so. I\u2019m not a No. 2 guy,\u201d DeSantis said on the \u201cWisconsin Right Now\u201d radio show,\u00a0NBC News reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DeSantis said he would opt to stay in his governorship over joining Trump\u2019s ticket, adding that the vice presidency \u201cdoesn\u2019t really have any authority.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked whom he would consider signing on as a running mate, the Sunshine State governor said \u201cit\u2019s a little bit presumptuous to be doing that at this stage,\u201d adding that he\u2019s focused on winning the early primaries before delving deep into his search for vice president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Florida governor is trailing Trump in the 2024 GOP primary race by nearly 30 points nationally, according to a\u00a0FiveThirtyEight poll<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, a pro-DeSantis spokesperson told Mediaite he has serious concerns about the Florida Governor’s ability to take on Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRight now in national polling we are way behind, I\u2019ll be the first to admit that,\u201d said Cortes. \u201cI believe in being blunt and honest. It\u2019s an uphill battle but clearly Donald Trump is the runaway frontrunner.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that DeSantis\u2019 campaign was the \u201cclear underdog,\u201d and added that in the first four primary states, \u201cwhich\u00a0matter tremendously, polls are a lot tighter, we are still clearly down. We\u2019re down double digits, we have work to do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
