{"id":4881,"date":"2023-08-14T15:12:16","date_gmt":"2023-08-14T19:12:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=4881"},"modified":"2023-08-14T15:12:16","modified_gmt":"2023-08-14T19:12:16","slug":"georgia-judge-rules-cameras-will-be-allowed-in-courtroom-if-trump-indicted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/news\/georgia-judge-rules-cameras-will-be-allowed-in-courtroom-if-trump-indicted\/njackson\/2023\/08\/","title":{"rendered":"Georgia Judge Rules Cameras Will Be Allowed in Courtroom if Trump Indicted"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This is big&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A judge in Fulton County, Georgia &#8211; where a grand jury is contemplating indicting former President Trump &#8211; ruled Monday morning to allow cameras in the courtroom if and when such an indictment occurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday morning, Fulton County District Attorney\u00a0Fani Willis\u00a0launched the presentation of her case to a grand jury regarding Trump and several &#8220;co-conspirators'&#8221; efforts to overturn the election in Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fulton County Superior Court Judge\u00a0Robert McBurney\u00a0is in court this week to preside over both Willis\u2019 grand jury proceedings and other routine court matters. Monday morning, he instructed reporters and curious members of the public who were present in his courtroom about what to expect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf a grand jury presents an indictment, that\u2019s usually in the afternoon, and you can film and photograph that,\u201d said McBurney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a report by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/themessenger.com\/politics\/judge-georgia-indictment-will-be-televised-if-trump-gets-charged\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Messenger<\/a>, \u201cat least part\u201d of the indictment \u201cmay be televised.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>If the grand jury votes to indict, be it on Monday or Tuesday, the indictment will be walked over from Willis\u2019 office to the county courthouse by a representative of the clerk\u2019s office, the Fulton County sheriff\u2019s office and the grand jury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will be presented to McBurney to sign and be made public. The names of jurors will also be made public at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If an indictment happens on Monday or Tuesday, expect it to be in the afternoon, and the media\u2019s cameras in the courtroom will be allowed to film the moment it is made public, McBurney said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will not, however, be an out loud reading of the documents, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no reading of anything.\u201d There\u2019s also no heads up for the judge of whether that indictment is coming until it\u2019s presented to him.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/trump\/breaking-georgia-judge-rules-cameras-will-be-allowed-in-courtroom-if-trump-indicted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mediate<\/a>, during his New York indictment, a photographer was permitted in the courtroom to capture a few still photos, but no video was allowed.
