{"id":5291,"date":"2023-10-05T10:52:46","date_gmt":"2023-10-05T14:52:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=5291"},"modified":"2023-10-05T10:52:49","modified_gmt":"2023-10-05T14:52:49","slug":"trump-requests-delay-in-mar-a-lago-trial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/news\/trump-requests-delay-in-mar-a-lago-trial\/njackson\/2023\/10\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump Requests Delay In Mar-A-Lago Trial"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Former President Donald Trump is seeking to delay his trial in the Mar-a-Lago case until \u201cat least mid-November 2024,\u201d which would put it beyond next year\u2019s presidential election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The request from Trump comes on the heels of complaints from his legal team about the amount of classified evidence they\u2019ve been able to review in the case, as well as their workload, as they manage numerous indictments filed against the former president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/4239918-trump-seeks-to-delay-mar-a-lago-case-until-after-2024-election\/\">The Hill<\/a> continues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The attorneys say they have yet to get access to all classified evidence underpinning charges in a superseding indictment that accused Trump of an additional Espionage Act charge and of trying to delete security camera footage from his Florida home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump\u2019s team also complains that it \u201conly has access to a small, temporary facility in Miami\u201d to view the highly classified records. It must visit the facility in person while managing hearing dates for Trump\u2019s trial on allegations he sought to block the transfer of power after losing the 2020 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe March 4, 2023 trial date in the District of Columbia, and the underlying schedule in that case, currently require President Trump and his lawyers to be in two places at once,\u201d Trump\u2019s attorneys, Christopher Kise and Todd Blanche, wrote in the filing.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump is set to face trial on the classified records case in May.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former President Donald Trump is seeking to delay his trial in the Mar-a-Lago case until \u201cat least mid-November 2024,\u201d which would put it beyond next year\u2019s presidential election.
