Instead, the prosecution falsely claims that President Trump\u2019s motives were impure \u2014 that he purportedly \u2018knew\u2019 that the widespread reports of fraud and election irregularities were untrue but sought to address them anyway,\u201d Trump\u2019s attorneys wrote in the motion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut as the Constitution, the Supreme Court, and hundreds of years of history and tradition all make clear, the President\u2019s motivations are not for the prosecution or this Court to decide.
