{"id":5401,"date":"2023-10-20T13:12:06","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T17:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=5401"},"modified":"2023-10-20T13:12:06","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T17:12:06","slug":"second-trump-lawyer-pleads-guilty-in-georgia-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/news\/second-trump-lawyer-pleads-guilty-in-georgia-case\/njackson\/2023\/10\/","title":{"rendered":"Second Trump Lawyer Pleads Guilty In Georgia Case"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A second Trump attorney has pleaded guilty in the Georgia election interference case brought by District Attorney Fani Willis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Friday, Kenneth Chesebro agreed to testify truthfully in any future case proceedings and write a letter of apology to Georgia citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to reports from <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/4267048-chesebro-becomes-second-trump-lawyer-to-plead-guilty-in-georgia\/\">The Hill<\/a>, Fulton County prosecutor Daysha Young told the court that if the case had gone to trial, the state would have shown that Chesebro \u2014 along with Trump, Rudy Giuliani and other co-defendants \u2014 entered a criminal conspiracy to cause other co-conspirators to \u201cfalsely hold themselves out as the duly elected and qualified electors for the president and vice president from Georgia following the Nov. 3, 2020, presidential election.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Young also said that Chesebro was present at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, when an inflamed pro-Trump mob stormed the building while the certification of the presidential election was underway.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cAre you pleading guilty because you agree that there\u2019s a factual basis that supports this remaining charge?\u201d McAfee asked Chesebro.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYes, this charge,\u201d Chesebro replied.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>McAfee accepted the agreement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chesebro was also sentenced to five years of probation, 100 hours of community service and ordered to pay\u00a0$5,000 in restitution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was originally charged with seven felony counts linked to the alternate electors scheme, for which he drafted multiple memos detailing strategies for how slates of pro-Trump individuals could falsely claim to be their states\u2019 valid electors. \u00a0However, Under the plea agreement, Chesebro will only be charged with one of those counts, conspiracy to commit filing false documents.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chesebro&#8217;s guilty plea comes a day after Sidney Powell also pleaded guilty. <strong>(RELATED:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/news\/report-sidney-powell-to-plead-guilty-in-georgia-election-case\/njackson\/2023\/10\/\">Sidney Powell Pleads Guilty In Georgia Election Interference Case<\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A second Trump attorney has pleaded guilty in the Georgia election interference case brought by District Attorney Fani Willis.
