{"id":5426,"date":"2023-10-25T14:58:45","date_gmt":"2023-10-25T18:58:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=5426"},"modified":"2023-10-25T14:58:46","modified_gmt":"2023-10-25T18:58:46","slug":"trump-fined-in-civil-fraud-trial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/news\/trump-fined-in-civil-fraud-trial\/njackson\/2023\/10\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump Fined In Civil Fraud Trial"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Former President Trump was fined $10,000 for violating the gag order in his $250 million New York business fraud trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron ordered Trump to the witness stand and questioned him about comments he made outside of the courtroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The surprise calling of Trump to the witness stand came amid the second day of testimony from\u00a0Michael Cohen, Trump\u2019s former attorney and fixer, who faced a barrage of attacks about his\u00a0credibility\u00a0as a witness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/10\/25\/trump-fraud-trial-michael-cohen-testifies-in-fraud-trial.html\">CNBC<\/a> has more:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Trump doubled down Wednesday during a mid-morning break, saying Cohen \u201cwent to jail for lying\u201d and branding him \u201ca totally discredited witness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump, who stared down Cohen in court on Tuesday, repeatedly attacked his former lawyer in between the proceedings. He called Cohen a \u201cproven liar,\u201d a \u201cfelon\u201d and a \u201cdisgrace\u201d outside the courtroom.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>He launched more attacks on social media, writing Tuesday evening that Cohen \u201cwas a complete and total disaster\u201d in the trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cLie after lie, and getting caught each time,\u201d claimed Trump.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>New York Attorney General Letitia James\u2019 civil case accuses Trump, his two adult sons, the Trump Organization and top executives of falsely inflating the values of Trump\u2019s real estate properties and other assets in order to get tax benefits and better loan terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>James seeks around $250 million in damages, and she wants to bar Trump and his co-defendants from running another business in New Yo<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This is a breaking news story.
