{"id":5506,"date":"2023-11-09T09:17:12","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T14:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=5506"},"modified":"2023-11-09T09:17:13","modified_gmt":"2023-11-09T14:17:13","slug":"minnesota-supreme-court-dismisses-challenge-to-keep-trump-off-2024-ballot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/2026\/minnesota-supreme-court-dismisses-challenge-to-keep-trump-off-2024-ballot\/njackson\/2023\/11\/","title":{"rendered":"Minnesota Supreme Court Dismisses Challenge To Keep Trump Off 2024 Ballot"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Minnesota Supreme Court has dismissed a lawsuit seeking to bar former President Donald Trump from the state&#8217;s 2024 primary ballot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Left-wing group Free Speech For People argued that Trump violated the 14th Amendment during the Jan. 6th, 2020 Capitol riot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 14th Amendment disqualifies anyone from running for office who had previously taken an oath of office who then \u201cengaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/minnesota-supreme-court-dismisses-insurrection-clause-challenge-to-keep-trump-off-states-primary-ballot-report\">The Daily Wire<\/a> has more:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThere is no state statute that prohibits a major political party from placing on the presidential nomination primary ballot, or sending delegates to the national convention supporting, a candidate who is ineligible to hold office,\u201d Chief Justice Natalie Hudson ruled.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the court\u2019s ruling only applies to the state\u2019s primary ballot and left open the possibility that the plaintiffs could make another attempt to block Trump from appearing on the general election ballot in November 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump celebrated the ruling in a series of Truth Social posts on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cRidiculous 14th Amendment lawsuit just thrown out by Minnesota Supreme Court,\u201d Trump&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/111377205337385444\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cCongratulations to all who fought this HOAX!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to the ruling, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said in part: \u201cToday\u2019s decision in Minnesota, like New Hampshire before it, is further validation of the Trump Campaign\u2019s consistent argument that the 14th Amendment ballot challenges are nothing more than strategic, un-Constitutional attempts to interfere with the election by desperate Democrats who see the writing on the wall: President Trump is dominating the polls and has never been in a stronger position to end the failed Biden presidency next November.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Minnesota Supreme Court has dismissed a lawsuit seeking to bar former President Donald Trump from the state&#8217;s 2024 primary ballot.
