{"id":5583,"date":"2023-11-22T09:43:13","date_gmt":"2023-11-22T14:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=5583"},"modified":"2023-11-22T09:43:13","modified_gmt":"2023-11-22T14:43:13","slug":"report-trumps-truth-social-parent-company-sues-20-media-outlets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/news\/report-trumps-truth-social-parent-company-sues-20-media-outlets\/njackson\/2023\/11\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Trump\u2019s Truth Social Parent Company Sues 20 Media Outlets"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The parent company to former President Trump&#8217;s Truth Social wants $1.5 billion in damages from news organizations that reported that the social media platform had lost $73 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a Monday lawsuit, lawyers for Trump Media &amp; Technology Group Corp. said in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/assets.bwbx.io\/documents\/users\/iqjWHBFdfxIU\/rZueWN3cxZTE\/v0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> that the number was \u201can utter fabrication\u201d and accused 20 news outlets of a \u201cdeliberate, malicious, and coordinated attack\u201d against Truth Social.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/politics\/trump-s-truth-social-parent-company-sues-20-media-outlets\/ar-AA1kgEWt\">Bloomberg<\/a> has more:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Outlets including the Guardian and Reuters posted stories early last week about Truth Social\u2019s financial condition, citing a regulatory&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/ix?doc=\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1849635\/000119312523276045\/d408563ds4a.htm#fin408563_9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filing<\/a>&nbsp;by its merger partner, Digital World Acquisition Corporation, a special-purpose acquisition company. Later, at least some of the outlets, including Reuters, posted&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/trumps-truth-social-reports-73-mln-net-loss-since-launch-2023-11-14\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">corrections<\/a>&nbsp;on their stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reuters and some other publications said they had reached the wrong figure by incorrectly counting a $50.5 million profit for 2022 as a loss. TMTG lawyers said that the \u201cincredible circumstances\u201d of all 20 outlets reporting the $73 million figure within hours of each other suggested a coordinated campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe dispute any allegation that Reuters defamed TMTG or intended to harm TMTG,\u201d a Reuters spokesperson said in a statement. \u201cWe corrected our mistake as soon as TMTG made us aware of it, consistent with the Thomson Reuters Trust Principles.
