{"id":5785,"date":"2023-12-21T13:50:20","date_gmt":"2023-12-21T18:50:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=5785"},"modified":"2023-12-21T13:50:20","modified_gmt":"2023-12-21T18:50:20","slug":"report-rudy-giuliani-files-for-bankruptcy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/news\/report-rudy-giuliani-files-for-bankruptcy\/njackson\/2023\/12\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Rudy Giuliani Files For Bankruptcy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Thursday, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani filed for bankruptcy days after the former Trump lawyer was ordered to pay a whopping $148 million to two ex-Georgia election workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to reports from <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/4371707-giuliani-bankruptcy-148million-verdict\/\">The Hill<\/a>, Giuliani\u2019s Chapter 11 petition, filed in U.S. bankruptcy court in New York, lists between $1 million and $10 million in assets and between $100 million and $500 million in liabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, a judge ordered Giuliani to pay about $148 million to former Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss. The judge on Wednesday ordered that the judgment be immediately enforced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe filing should be a surprise to no one,\u201d Ted Goodman, political advisor to Giuliani, said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cNo person could have reasonably believed that Mayor Rudy Giuliani would be able to pay such a high punitive amount,\u201d Goodman added. \u201cChapter 11 will afford Mayor Giuliani the opportunity and time to pursue an appeal, while providing transparency for his finances under the supervision of the bankruptcy court, to ensure all creditors are treated equally and fairly throughout the process.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Giuliani\u2019s bankruptcy petition estimates he owes the largest amount to the two women and has a total of less than 50 creditors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>It includes\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/hunter-biden\/\">Hunter Biden,<\/a>\u00a0the president\u2019s son, who sued Giuliani over\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/4222992-hunter-biden-sues-giuliani-for-hacking-and-disseminating-his-data\/\">his involvement in Biden\u2019s laptop scandal<\/a>; voting-equipment companies Smartmatic and Dominion, which both\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/535633-dominion-voting-systems-files-13b-defamation-suit-against-giuliani\/\">sued Giuliani for defamation<\/a>\u00a0over his 2020 election claims; Giuliani\u2019s ex-lawyers, who are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/4211100-giulianis-ex-lawyers-file-suit-over-alleged-1-4-million-in-outstanding-legal-fees\/#:~:text=Court%20Battles-,Giuliani's%20ex%2Dlawyers%20file%20suit%20over%20alleged,million%20in%20outstanding%20legal%20fees&amp;text=Ex%2Dlawyers%20for%20Rudy%20Giuliani,in%20alleged%20outstanding%20legal%20bills.\">suing him over unpaid legal bills<\/a>; a Staten Island, N.Y. supermarket employee who sued Giuliani after being arrested for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/3537752-giuliani-slapped-by-supermarket-employee-police-say\/\">allegedly assaulting the former mayor<\/a>; and one of Giuliani\u2019s former employees, who\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/4005443-rudy-giuliani-sued-for-10-million-over-sexual-assault-allegations\/\">accused him of sexual assault.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This is a breaking news story.
