{"id":5859,"date":"2024-01-04T10:08:18","date_gmt":"2024-01-04T15:08:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=5859"},"modified":"2024-01-04T10:08:20","modified_gmt":"2024-01-04T15:08:20","slug":"trumps-attorney-confirms-trump-ballot-concerns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/news\/trumps-attorney-confirms-trump-ballot-concerns\/njackson\/2024\/01\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump&#8217;s Attorney Confirms Trump Ballot Concerns"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Trump will never let them see him sweat&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former\u00a0President Trump\u2019s\u00a0attorney Alina Habba\u00a0confirmed his concerns the Supreme Court will ultimately uphold Colorado and Maine&#8217;s decisions to boot Trump from the primary ballot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Responding to New York Times reporter\u00a0Maggie Haberman\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4383886-maggie-haberman-trump-worried-supreme-court-ballot-removals-colorado-maine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recent comments about<\/a>\u00a0Trump\u2019s concerns, Habba during an interview on Fox News <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/4387650-trumps-lawyer-confirms-his-concern-about-supreme-court-ballot-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>, \u201cThat\u2019s a concern he\u2019s voiced to me, he\u2019s voiced to everybody publicly, not privately. And I can tell you that his concern is a valid one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cYou know, Republicans are conservative, they get nervous. They unfortunately \u2026 sometimes shy away from being pro-Trump because they feel that even if the law is on our side, they are swayed much like the Democratic side, right?\u201d Habba told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum. \u201cSo they\u2019re trying so hard to look neutral that sometimes, they make the wrong call.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month, Colorado and Maine sparked swift backlash after ruling Trump is ineligible to be on the primary ballot under the 14th Amendment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump on Wednesday\u00a0appealed Colorado\u2019s ruling\u00a0to the U.S. Supreme Court, one day after he\u00a0appealed Maine\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three of the justices on the U.S. Supreme Court were appointed by Trump, a point of concern Haberman addressed last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThey believe, generally speaking, he and his advisers, that they will have success at the Supreme Court, but he has also voiced some concern that a court that has \u2014 he appointed three of the justices at the Supreme Court and gave the conservatives a supermajority \u2014 he is concerned that they are going to look as if they\u2019re trying not to rule in his favor and might rule against him,\u201d Haberman said during a CNN appearance last week.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>However, both Trump and his legal team have reportedly privately voiced concerns the justices may \u201cshy away from being pro-Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Habba on Wednesday said she encourages the justices to \u201creally look at the law in the Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a very clean cut,\u201d she said. \u201cThere\u2019s no \u2026 politics that should be involved in this. It\u2019s just simply American, and if the justices read the law, as I do, as most Americans and attorneys do, even [Alan Dershowitz] \u2014 who\u2019s a known liberal \u2014 it\u2019s just a simple decision, and it should have nothing to do with if you\u2019re Republican or Democrat.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Dershowitz last month called Colorado\u2019s decision \u201can attempt to totally manipulate an amendment that was never designed to disqualify people in a future election,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/dianebrady\/2023\/12\/20\/alan-dershowitz-on-colorado-court-removing-trump-from-2024-ballot\/?sh=f18d7c345adf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Forbes reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Trump will never let them see him sweat&#8230; Former\u00a0President Trump\u2019s\u00a0attorney Alina Habba\u00a0confirmed his concerns the Supreme Court will ultimately uphold Colorado and Maine&#8217;s decisions to boot Trump from the primary ballot.
