{"id":6523,"date":"2024-04-05T10:28:38","date_gmt":"2024-04-05T14:28:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=6523"},"modified":"2024-04-05T10:28:40","modified_gmt":"2024-04-05T14:28:40","slug":"report-two-republican-congressmen-subpoenaed-in-trump-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/news\/report-two-republican-congressmen-subpoenaed-in-trump-probe\/njackson\/2024\/04\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Two Republican Congressmen Subpoenaed In Trump Probe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Two Republican Congressmen have been subpoenaed as part of a probe into a scheme that attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state of Arizona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a Politico report, the investigation by Arizona Attorney General\u00a0Kris Mayes\u00a0is similar in nature to those in other states\u00a0Donald Trump\u00a0lost, where the former president and his allies attempted to advance slates of pro-Trump electors for recognition in the Electoral College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reps.\u00a0Andy Biggs\u00a0and\u00a0Paul Gosar have been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/04\/04\/biggs-gosar-arizona-subpoenas-00150416\">ordered<\/a>\u00a0to testify before a grand jury, noting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>There is no indication that Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, who is leading the probe, is considering bringing criminal charges against either lawmaker. And it\u2019s unclear whether Mayes has insisted on enforcing the subpoenas against the lawmakers, who may have legal bases to resist testifying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the subpoenas themselves \u2014 in conjunction with a series of other aggressive recent moves \u2014 show that Mayes, a Democrat, has cast a far wider net in her probe than previously understood.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Politico said it reviewed a letter dated Feb. 16 from Gosar to Speaker\u00a0Mike Johnson\u00a0(R-LA) apprising the speaker of the subpoena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pair of GOP congressmen mark the latest Trump allies to be subpoenaed in Mayes&#8217; Investigation. Last month, she\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/politics\/arizona-subpoenas-trump-co-defendant-and-ex-campaign-aide-in-2020-fake-electors-probe\/\">subpoenaed<\/a>\u00a0former Trump campaign aide\u00a0Michael Roman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Electors in Michigan and Nevada, where similar schemes were attempted, have already been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/politics\/arizona-subpoenas-trump-co-defendant-and-ex-campaign-aide-in-2020-fake-electors-probe\/\">indicted<\/a>\u00a0in those states.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two Republican Congressmen have been subpoenaed as part of a probe into a scheme that attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state of Arizona.
