{"id":6596,"date":"2024-04-18T09:56:53","date_gmt":"2024-04-18T13:56:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=6596"},"modified":"2024-04-18T09:56:55","modified_gmt":"2024-04-18T13:56:55","slug":"trump-risks-violating-court-order-by-sharing-media-clip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/featured\/trump-risks-violating-court-order-by-sharing-media-clip\/njackson\/2024\/04\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump Risks Violating Court Order By Sharing Media Clip"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Donald Trump might regret this&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Wednesday, Trump seemed to violate the gag order imposed by Judge Juan Merchan in the ongoing hush money trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Wednesday, Trump took to Truth Social and quoted comments made about potential jurors by Fox News host\u00a0Jesse Watters\u00a0on\u00a0<em>The Five<\/em>\u00a0Wednesday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey are catching undercover Liberal Activists lying to the Judge in order to get on the Trump Jury,\u201d Trump\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/112288751107447732\">wrote<\/a>, quoting the Fox host.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That post appears to be in direct violation of Merchan\u2019s gag order, a reality\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rgoodlaw\/status\/1780731210441834644\">highlighted<\/a>\u00a0by JustSecurity\u2019s\u00a0Ryan Goodman, who shared screen grabs of both the Truth Social post and a section from the gag order, writing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>On the left:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NY judge\u2019s gag order prohibiting Trump from \u201cmaking \u2026 public statements about any prospective juror or any juror in this criminal proceeding.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the right:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump making public statement about prospective jurors in this criminal proceedings.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The gag order section reads, in part, \u201cMaking or directing others to make public statements about any prospective juror or any juror in this criminal proceeding.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CNN\u2019s\u00a0Jeffrey Toobin\u00a0was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/crime\/toobin-says-trump-clearly-violated-gag-order-with-social-media-post-an-attempt-to-intimidate-jurors\/\">asked<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0Anderson Cooper\u00a0Wednesday night if this sort of social media post was permissible under the gag order. Toobin argued that it was an apparent attempt to intimidate jurors, which is \u201cclearly barred.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toobin\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/crime\/toobin-says-trump-clearly-violated-gag-order-with-social-media-post-an-attempt-to-intimidate-jurors\/\">said<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>I don\u2019t think so. I think it\u2019s false, but more importantly, it\u2019s clearly \u2013 I think \u2013 an attempt to intimidate jurors and it is&nbsp;<em>clearly<\/em>&nbsp;barred by the gag order in this case. I mean, Donald Trump doesn\u2019t seem to realize he is now a criminal defendant, and criminal defendants have different and lesser rights than ordinary citizens. They are not allowed to interfere in the trial process \u2013 especially when there is a gag order that specifically addresses attempts to intimidate jurors.
