But after considerable reflection, I\u2019m certain it\u2019s the right one for me as I look to the future and prioritize what\u2019s most important for me and my family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NEWS<br><br>Kim Godwin, the president of ABC News, has announced she\u2019s leaving the network and retiring from broadcast news. <br><br>Godwin, who was named president in 2021, was the first black woman to lead the news division of a major network. <br><br>Her tenure has been filled with missteps and\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kqJHN7XsEA\">pic.twitter.com\/kqJHN7XsEA<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Yashar Ali \ud83d\udc18 (@yashar) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yashar\/status\/1787282238020956446?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 6, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Disney Networks president Debra OConnell said in a statement, \u201cDana and I would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to Kim for her service as president of ABC News. Kim has navigated this team through consequential times in our world, and she did so with respect for the brand and profession \u2013 and for that and more, we thank her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Godwin\u2019s decision to retire comes after she struggled to navigate the waters at the network with the news division \u201csuffering from a cutthroat and toxic culture,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/abc-news-president-kim-godwin-president-steps-down-reports-turmoil-network\">reportedly<\/a>\u00a0angered people with her leadership style which included making \u201cswift moves\u201d and creating an inner circle that \u201calienated staffers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former President Donald Trump responded to the news in a post on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHappy to report that Kim Godwin, Head of ABC, has resigned,\u201d he said. \u201cCould it be the unfair reporting on EVERYTHING TRUMP? In any event, GOOD RIDDANCE! Hopefully somebody else will be able to control George Slopadopolous and the rest of the Fake News Thugs over at ABC?
