Former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) does not plan to support Donald Trump’s latest bid for the White House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former lawmaker said in an interview that he plans to write in a different Republican’s name on the ballot but stopped short of revealing who it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCharacter is too important to me,\u201d Ryan, who left Congress in 2019, told Yahoo Finance<\/a> at the Milken Global Institute Conference. \u201cAnd it\u2019s a job that requires the kind of character that he just doesn\u2019t have.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHaving said that, I really disagree with [President Biden] on policy,\u201d he added. \u201cI wrote in a Republican the last time, I\u2019m gonna write in a Republican this time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ryan, the head of the Republican House majority during Trump\u2019s first two years in the White House,\u00a0has become a vocal critic\u00a0of the former president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHistorically speaking, all of his tendencies are basically where narcissism takes him, which is whatever makes him popular, makes him feel good in any given moment,\u201d Ryan said in an interview late last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe doesn\u2019t think in classical liberal conservative terms,\u201d he continued at the time. \u201cHe thinks in an authoritarian way, and he\u2019s been able to get a big chunk of the Republican base to follow him because he\u2019s the culture warrior.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
