A surprising turnaround…<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Vice President Harris said Thursday she would consider appointing a Republican to a Cabinet position if she wins the presidency in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got 68 days to go with this election, so I\u2019m not putting the cart before the horse,\u201d Harris told CNN\u2019s Dana Bash. \u201cBut I would, I think. I think it\u2019s really important.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Harris, who\u00a0sat down with CNN<\/a>\u00a0for her first taped interview since becoming\u00a0President Biden\u00a0ended his campaign, told Bash that having a GOP official in her Cabinet would help her fulfill her pledge to be a president for all Americans. She did not name any individuals she would consider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s important to have people at the table \u2014 when some of the most important decisions are being made \u2014 that have different views, different experiences,\u201d Harris said. \u201cAnd I think it would be to the benefit of the American public to have a member of my Cabinet who was a Republican.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

A number of GOP Trump critics spoke at the Democratic convention in Chicago earlier this month, including former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), former Georgia Lt. Gov.\u00a0Geoff Duncan\u00a0and former Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
