This reluctance was revealed during discussions with&nbsp;<em>Axios<\/em>, raising questions about the party\u2019s stance on the upcoming election certification process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Per&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2024\/10\/10\/top-democrats-including-election-denier-jamie-raskin-wont-commit-to-certifying-a-trump-victory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Breitbart<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Raskin denied Trump won the 2016 election when he objected to Trump\u2019s electors in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Trump \u201cwon a free, fair and honest election, then we would obviously accept it,\u201d Raskin said, assuming the election was free, fair and honest.&nbsp;\u201cI definitely don\u2019t assume that,\u201d he added.&nbsp;\u201cDemocrats don\u2019t engage in election fraud and election fabrication.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A video&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2024\/08\/05\/watch-raskin-describes-scenario-where-congress-could-disqualify-trump-in-january\/amp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">surfaced<\/a>&nbsp;in September of a panel discussion in February 2024 in which Raskin speculated that Congress would invalidate a&nbsp;Trump election victory, even though it could be at the risk of \u201ccivil war.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">FLASHBACK: Jamie Raskin claims Congress will STOP TRUMP on J6, 2025 and create \u201ccivil war conditions.\u201d<br><br>Will use the 14th Amendment.. <br><br>PAYING ATTENTION NOW..<br><br> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zzvpajhNpS\">pic.twitter.com\/zzvpajhNpS<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Chuck Callesto (@ChuckCallesto) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChuckCallesto\/status\/1844547036302963152?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 11, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cIt is not clear whether Raskin was actually outlining a plan of action, or rather using a hypothetical to argue that the U.S.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/americanliberty.news\/tag\/supreme-court\/\">Supreme Court<\/a>&nbsp;was placing what he considered an undue burden on Congress to keep Trump out of office,\u201d Breitbart News\u2019s Joel Pollak reported.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>House Rules Committee Ranking Member&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/americanliberty.news\/tag\/jim-mcgovern\/\">Jim McGovern<\/a>&nbsp;(D-Mass.) echoed Raskin\u2019s concerns, telling Axios that Democrats would certify a Trump victory \u201cassuming everything goes the way we expect it to \u2026 We have to see how it all happens.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McGovern also objected to Trump\u2019s electors in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The uncertainty among Democrats comes amid heightened political tension with 24 days until the presidential election. Raskin, who has been an outspoken critic of Trump,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/deadline-white-house\/watch\/rep-jamie-raskin-american-carnage-is-trump-s-legacy-220709957777\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">previously called<\/a>&nbsp;the former president\u2019s legacy \u201cAmerican carnage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to Thursday\u2019s development, former Department of Justice official Jeffrey Clark criticized the Democrats\u2019 position. Taking to X, Clark expressed frustration with what he sees as a double standard in how objections to election certifications are perceived:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Do you see how this works?
