{"id":8317,"date":"2024-12-04T09:55:41","date_gmt":"2024-12-04T14:55:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=8317"},"modified":"2024-12-04T09:55:42","modified_gmt":"2024-12-04T14:55:42","slug":"trump-dea-nominee-withdraws-from-consideration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/crime\/trump-dea-nominee-withdraws-from-consideration\/njackson\/2024\/12\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump DEA Nominee Withdraws From Consideration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Another one bites the dust&#8230;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>President-elect Trump\u2019s\u00a0choice to lead the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced on Tuesday he is withdrawing from consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Florida\u2019s Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/chadchronister\/status\/1864068222309277751?s=46&amp;t=pqzakFE1K4a5zCDtXamhBg\">said in a post on X<\/a>\u00a0Tuesday evening that he would instead tend to his current duties overseeing an area of the Sunshine State that includes Tampa Bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOver the past several days, as the gravity of this very important responsibility set in, I\u2019ve concluded that I must respectfully withdraw from consideration,\u201d Chronister said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere is more work to be done for the citizens of Hillsborough County and a lot of initiatives I am committed to fulfilling,\u201d Chronister continued. \u201cI sincerely appreciate the nomination, outpouring of support by the American people, and look forward to continuing my service as Sheriff of Hillsborough County.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump\u00a0just <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5016149-trump-selects-veteran-law-enforcement-officer-chad-chronister-for-dea-administrator\/\">announced<\/a>\u00a0Chronister as his choice to lead the DEA in a Truth Social post on Saturday, tapping the local sheriff to take charge of the agency tasked with seizing illegal substances ranging from fentanyl to other opioids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am pleased to nominate Sheriff Chad Chronister for Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA),\u201d Trump wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor over 32 years, Sheriff Chad Chronister has served the Hillsborough County Sheriff\u2019s Office, and received countless commendations and awards for keeping his community SAFE,\u201d Trump added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chronister marks the second nominee to withdraw from consideration after former Florida Rep.
