<\/a>Veteran journalist\u00a0Chuck Todd<\/a>\u00a0has officially left\u00a0NBC News<\/a>, marking the end of a career spanning decades in political reporting and television analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The longtime political journalist and television host is best known for his tenure as the moderator of NBC\u2019s Meet the Press<\/a><\/em>\u2014the longest-running TV show in history\u2014from 2014 to 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Todd started in political journalism as the editor-in-chief of The Hotline<\/em>, a daily political briefing by the National Journal<\/em>. His deep knowledge of political data and elections earned him recognition in Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He joined NBC News in 2007 as the network\u2019s political director, where he became a frequent on-air analyst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2008, Todd became the NBC News Chief White House Correspondent, covering the Obama administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Todd replaced David Gregory as the moderator of Meet the Press<\/em> in 2014. Under his tenure, the show continued to be a major platform for political discussions, though he received criticism for being overly accommodating to certain guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June 2023, Todd announced he would step down, and Kristen Welker took over in September. He remained with NBC as the network\u2019s chief political analyst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though Todd is leaving NBC News, the New York Post<\/em> reports<\/a> that he\u2019s taking his podcast, Chuck Toddcast<\/em>, with him:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere\u2019s never a perfect time to leave a place that\u2019s been a professional home for so long, but I\u2019m pretty excited about a few new projects that are on the cusp of going from \u2018pie in the sky\u2019 to \u2018near reality,\u2019 Todd told NBC News staffers in a memo Friday.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Todd confirmed his departure on Friday. When The Post sought comment from Todd via his NBC work email, the automatic message read: \u201cFriday, January 31st was my final day at NBC.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the memo, Todd told colleagues that he intends to take his podcast with him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cChuck Toddcast\u201d is \u201ccoming with me,\u201d according to Todd, who urged colleagues to \u201cstay tuned for an announcement about its new home soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Todd has had several public confrontations with President Donald Trump<\/a>. Throughout Trump\u2019s political career, Todd has been critical of Trump\u2019s actions and policies, leading to tensions between the two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2017, during an interview on Meet the Press<\/em>, Todd challenged White House counselor Kellyanne Conway over the administration\u2019s claim of \u201calternative facts\u201d regarding the inauguration crowd size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump has also targeted Todd personally, referring to him with nicknames such as \u201cSleepy Eyes\u201d and publicly criticizing his journalistic integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
