Vice President JD Vance\u00a0snapped at Brennan\u00a0after she claimed that Nazis \u201cweaponized\u201d free speech in order to perpetrate the Holocaust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her remark occurred during a Sunday interview with Secretary of State\u00a0Marco Rubio,\u00a0during which\u00a0she pressed the Trump official over comments made by Vance in Munich earlier this week. Vance criticized European NATO allies on Tuesday for stifling free speech and claimed the enemy of the continent was not Russia or China but rather the \u201cenemy within.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brennan also criticized Vance for visiting with leaders of Germany\u2019s far-right AfD party, stating, \u201cWell, he was standing in a country where free speech was weaponized to conduct a genocide, and he met with the head of a political party that has far-right views and some historic ties to extreme groups.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rubio responded, \u201cNo, I have to disagree with you.\u201d He added:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nFree speech was not used to conduct a genocide. The genocide was conducted by an authoritarian Nazi regime that happened to also be genocidal because they hated Jews and they hated minorities and they hated those that they had a list of people they hated, but primarily the Jews. There was no free speech in Nazi Germany. There was none. There was also no opposition in Nazi Germany. They were a sole and only party that governed that country. So, that\u2019s not an accurate reflection of history.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Multiple conservatives and prominent Trump allies slammed Brennan for making the comment following the Sunday interview on Face The Nation<\/em><\/a>. However, Vance responded with a quick response on X mocking Brennan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
