{"id":910,"date":"2022-10-27T17:04:49","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T17:04:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=910"},"modified":"2022-10-27T17:04:51","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T17:04:51","slug":"report-bidens-chief-of-staff-notified-of-hatch-act-violation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/news\/report-bidens-chief-of-staff-notified-of-hatch-act-violation\/njackson\/2022\/10\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Biden&#8217;s Chief of Staff Notified of Hatch Act Violation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>President Joe Biden&#8217;s chief of staff, Ron Klain was notified he violated the Hatch Act in May but the Office of Special Counsel (OSC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-chief-of-staff-informed-he-violated-hatch-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Daily Wire<\/a>, the OSC responded to the violation in a letter to America First Legal Foundation&#8217;s vice president and general counsel, Gene Hamilton, who filed the complaint in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cAlthough OSC has concluded that Mr. Klain violated the\u00a0Hatch Act, as explained below, we have decided not to pursue disciplinary action and instead issued him a warning letter,\u201d Ana Galindo-Marrone, chief of the Hatch Act Unit at the OSC, wrote.<\/p><p>\u201cOSC confirmed that Mr. Klain retweeted a May 22, 2022 message from Strike PAC (@StrikePAC) from his official Twitter account (@WHCOS). The tweet read, \u2018Operation Fly Formula delivers 70,000 pounds of infant formula for American mothers and their infants. Thank you @POTUS.\u2019 The tweet also read, \u2018Get your Democrats Deliver merch today!\u2019 and included a link to Strike PAC\u2019s online store and an image of the group\u2019s \u2018Democrats Deliver\u2019 t-shirt,\u201d she wrote.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Strike PAC is a partisan political group that supports the Democratic Party. In the letter, Galindo-Marrone also noted that Klain promptly removed the tweet from his account after being notified of the violation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cAlthough OSC has concluded that Mr. Klain violated the Hatch Act, we understand that he promptly removed the retweet upon being notified of this complaint,\u201d the letter read.<\/p><p>\u201cAccordingly, we have decided not to pursue disciplinary action and will close this matter. Mr. Klain has been warned that if in the future he engages in activity prohibited by the Hatch Act while employed in a covered position, OSC would consider such activity to be a willful and knowing violation of the law that could result in disciplinary action,\u201d the letter concluded.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUsing your White House Twitter account to advocate for a PAC is ILLEGAL,\u201d said Hamilton in <a href=\"https:\/\/aflegal.org\/breaking-office-of-special-counsel-finds-that-biden-white-house-chief-of-staff-ron-klain-violated-the-hatch-act-based-on-afl-request-for-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">response<\/a> to the OSC&#8217;s decision while also noting Klain previously criticized President Trump&#8217;s administration in 2018 over alleged Hatch Act violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u201cUsing your WH title in a press release advocating the President\u2019s reelection is ILLEGAL,\u201d\u00a0Kalin tweeted at the time, suggesting he is versed in the Hatch Act.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Joe Biden&#8217;s chief of staff, Ron Klain was notified he violated the Hatch Act in May but the Office of Special Counsel (OSC).
