{"id":9375,"date":"2025-04-10T14:33:02","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T18:33:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/?p=9375"},"modified":"2025-04-10T14:33:04","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T18:33:04","slug":"trump-targets-law-firm-linked-to-dominion-voting-systems-lawsuit-against-fox-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatamericanewsdesk.com\/featured\/trump-targets-law-firm-linked-to-dominion-voting-systems-lawsuit-against-fox-news\/njackson\/2025\/04\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump Targets Law Firm Linked To Dominion Voting Systems Lawsuit Against Fox News"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>President Trump\u00a0issued an order\u00a0targeting law firm\u00a0Susman Godfrey, the firm that helped Dominion Voting Systems secure a $787 million\u00a0settlement against Fox News\u00a0after the 2020 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump\u2019s order will ban the firm from accessing government buildings, viewing documents or representing any party who has any litigation with the federal government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hill <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/media\/5242267-donald-trump-targets-law-firm-susman-godfrey\/\">reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cLawyers and law firms that engage in activities detrimental to critical American interests should not have access to our Nation\u2019s secrets, nor should their conduct be subsidized by Federal taxpayer funds or contracts,\u201d the order reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The president said the move was necessary \u201cto address the significant risks, egregious conduct, and conflicts of interest,\u201d at Susman Godfrey.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The firm, in a statement, responded that \u201canyone who knows Susman Godfrey knows we believe in the rule of law, and we take seriously our duty to uphold it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis principle guides us now,\u201d the company said. \u201cThere is no question that we will fight this unconstitutional order.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Susman Godfrey helped voting systems provider Dominion\u00a0secure a multi-million dollar settlement\u00a0in 2022 against Fox News over\u00a0false claims it aired\u00a0after the 2020 presidential election promoted by Trump and his allies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump&#8217;s order comes the same week a Delaware judge ruled\u00a0that cable news channel <a href=\"https:\/\/americanliberty.news\/?s=Newsmax\">Newsmax<\/a> aired false and defamatory statements about <a href=\"https:\/\/americanliberty.news\/?s=Dominion+Voting+Systems\">Dominion Voting Systems<\/a> as part of its coverage of the 2020 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Thursday, Delaware Superior Court Judge&nbsp;Eric Davis ruled the statements made on Newsmax were defamatory, and Dominion must now prove in court the channel acted with \u201cactual malice\u201d to harm the company\u2019s reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/americanliberty.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Donald_Trump_53788247999-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-101010\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Gage Skidmore from Surprise, AZ, United States of America, CC BY-SA 2.0 <https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-sa\/2.0>, via Wikimedia Commons<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Davis\u2019s&nbsp;ruling comes ahead of a jury trial that is slated to begin later this month in connection with the voting system provider\u2019s defamation lawsuit against the conservative cable channel. <strong>(RELATED:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/americanliberty.news\/media\/report-fox-news-reaches-last-minute-settlement-with-dominion-voting-systems\/njackson\/2023\/04\/\">Report: Fox News Reaches Last-Minute Settlement With Dominion Voting Systems<\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dominion sued Newsmax in 2021 over a series of claims alleging the company\u2019s machines were manipulated to swing votes in&nbsp;President Biden\u2019s&nbsp;favor and against former President Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>In a new statement Wednesday, Newsmax said it \u201ccovered both sides of the 2020 election dispute fairly. At no time did it defame Dominion.
