President\u00a0Donald Trump\u2019s\u00a0social media posts urging stock market purchases ahead of his tariff pause announcement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe ask the SEC to determine whether President Trump, any members of his cabinet, or other donors, insiders, and administration officials engaged in insider trading, market manipulation or other securities laws violations on April 9, 2025, when President Trump announced that it was a \u2018GREAT TIME TO BUY\u2019 into the stock market,\u201d the senators wrote in a scathing letter.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Sens.\u00a0Adam Schiff\u00a0(D-CA),\u00a0Ron Wyden\u00a0(D-OR),\u00a0Mark Kelly\u00a0(D-AZ), and\u00a0Ruben Gallego\u00a0(D-AZ) also signed the letter, which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/news\/top-senate-democrats-ask-sec-to-investigate-if-trump-engaged-in-insider-trading-or-market-manipulation-with-stock-tip-post\/our-trump-trade-rep-receives-brutal-lashing-as-surprise-tariff-announcement-plays-out-in-real-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">slammed<\/a>\u00a0Trump for urging his social media followers to buy stocks \u201cjust hours before he announced a 90-day pause on his recently announced tariffs, leading to a historic market rally after days of dramatic market declines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cTHIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!!\u201d Trump wrote on Truth Social at 9:37 am just ahead of his announcement that he would pause additional tariff increases on 75 countries for 90 days while slapping even higher levies on China.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter was addressed to SEC Commissioner\u00a0Paul Atkins, a Trump appointee, who was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is unclear which officials and affiliates for President Trump had advance knowledge of his plans to delay tariffs \u2014 but insiders may have known that he was going to announce a tariff pause and that the market would improve,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wgntv.com\/news\/schumer-warren-call-on-sec-to-investigate-whether-trump-manipulated-market\/\"
