Self-proclaimed Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) recently aired his grievances with the Democrat Party saying the party lacks a vision for the future but denied claims he’s planning to launch a new political party with the help of progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sanders recently told the New York Times one of the goals of his tour of rallies across the country with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) was to encourage progressive candidates to run as independents and not as Democrats \u2013 denied that he was attempting to start a third party when asked by NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We\u2019re not trying to start a third party. What we are trying to do is strengthen American Democracy where faith in both the Democratic and Republican Parties is extremely low,” Sanders said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You want to run as a Democrat? Great. You want to run as an independent? That\u2019s great, but you\u2019ve got to get involved in the political process,” he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sanders continued, “What Democrats lack right now is a vision for the future\u2026 The two-party system is failing the working class of this country.” <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez have been barnstorming the country on what they call their\u00a0“Fighting Oligarchy” tour.\u00a0The duo have attracted large crowds at their rallies, which have been held in Arizona, Utah, California and other states, but have also attracted criticism.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fox News noted<\/a> that the pair of progressive lawmakers were spotted\u00a0exiting a private jet\u00a0costing a staggering $15,000 an hour in Sacramento, California on April 17. The self-identified Democratic Socialists chartered the jet to transport them to several West Coast stops on the tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An April\u00a0Fox News poll<\/a>\u00a0found that Democrats are at their lowest favorability rating ever, with just 41% of those surveyed having a favorable view of the party and 56% of respondents having an unfavorable view, leaving the party at a negative 15% rating. Democrats are still favored over the Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections, however.\u00a0

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez<\/a> (D-N.Y.) has been rumored as a potential 2028 primary opponent to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer but has yet to make any announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, a government accountability nonprofit is calling on the House to launch a probe into whether Rep.\u00a0Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., misappropriated her taxpayer-funded member allowance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Americans for Public Trust, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, sent a letter to the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE)<\/a> on Tuesday, questioning \u201cseveral troubling expenses\u201d from AOC\u2019s disbursements, which they claim are \u201cin contravention of federal law and the standards of the House of Representatives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each member of Congess receives a Member Representational Allowance (\u201cMRA\u201d), a budget for official duties that \u201cmay not be used for personal or campaign purposes,\u201d according to the Congressional Research Service. However, the \u201cSquad\u201d member is being accused of using these funds for \u201ccampaign purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AOC reportedly made a payment of $3,700 to a \u201cJuan D Gonzalez\u201d and another for $850 to \u201cBombazo Dance Co Inc.,\u201d with both expenditures described as being used for \u201ctraining.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

.@AOC<\/a> got dance lessons on 12\/13\/2024 from Bombazo Dance Co Inc and made the US taxpayer cover the $850 bill for that \u201ctraining.\u201d

On the same day there was $3,700 paid to Juan D Gonzalez for more \u201ctraining.\u201d
