On Wednesday, President Trump said he had declined an offer from Russian leader Vladimir Putin to help with negotiations with Iran and Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President\u00a0Donald Trump\u00a0spoke about the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict during an impromptu press conference on the White House lawn on Wednesday after he visited with some construction workers putting up new flag poles on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At one point in the exchange, Trump boasted about the U.S. achieving dominance over Iran\u2019s skies before pivoting to discuss a recent phone call with Russian President\u00a0Vladimir Putin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI mean, they\u2019re totally defenseless. They have no air defense whatsoever. They\u2019re totally captured. You know, we\u2019ve totally captured the air,\u201d\u00a0Trump\u00a0said of\u00a0Iran\u2019s\u00a0airspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump then called on a reporter for another question, who asked, \u201cMr. President, you\u2019ve been fairly compassionate towards the Iranian people\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI know a lot of people from Iran, from New York, from Washington, mostly from New York. They are incredible people. They\u2019re smart, they\u2019re energetic, they can be difficult, but so can you. You know, they are great people, smart people. And those people are getting the hell beat out of them now. And it\u2019s really a shame. It\u2019s so stupid. It\u2019s stupid. This is another one. You know, Russia-Ukraine is so stupid, would have never happened if I was president,\u201d Trump replied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou guys agree with that, right?\u201d added the president, turning to the construction workers for reassurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWould have never happened if I were president. Putin wouldn\u2019t have done it. And I spoke to him yesterday, and I said, you know, he actually offered to help mediate. I said, \u2018Do me a favor. Mediate your own. Let\u2019s mediate Russia first, OK?\u2019 I said, \u2018Vladimir. Let\u2019s mediate Russia first. You can worry about this later.\u2019 But I think that\u2019s going to work out, too, but so many people have been killed. The big thing with that one is far more people are dead than have been reported in the Ukraine-Russia. Many, many more people. A building falls down, they say nobody was hurt, you know. So, it\u2019s ridiculous,\u201d Trump concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A different reporter then asked, \u201cWhat does \u2018unconditional surrender\u2019 mean?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, you know what it means, \u2018unconditional surrender.\u2019 Two very simple words. A very simple, \u2018unconditional surrender.\u2019 That means I\u2019ve had it. Okay, I\u2019ve had it, I give up, no more. Then we go blow up all the nuclear stuff that\u2019s all over the place there. No, they had bad intentions. You know, for 40 years they\u2019ve been saying, \u2018Death to America, Death to Israel,\u2019 death to anybody else that they didn\u2019t like,\u201d Trump replied<\/p>\n\n\n\n
