Americans still want answers…

On Monday, the House Task Force investigating the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania released its initial findings.

Lack of adequate planning, a narrow field of vision for local snipers, the absence of a unified command post and fragmented communication were among the main findings in the 53-page report that examined how 20-year-old shooter Matthew Crooks was able to climb atop a building with a line of sight to Trump and fire at him.

“Although the findings in this report are preliminary, the information obtained during the first phase of the Task Force’s investigation clearly shows a lack of planning and coordination between the Secret Service and its law enforcement partners before the rally,” the report said.

U.S. Secret Service (USSS) personnel at the event “did not give clear guidance” to state and local authorities about how to manage security outside of their hard perimeter, nor was there a central meeting between USSS and the law enforcement agencies supporting them the morning of the rally – two findings presented as key failures in the 51-page report.

The House Task Force investigating the attempts on Trump’s life is expected to release its final report by Dec. 13.

Read the interim report in its entirety:

Crooks’s bullet came within inches of killing the former president and injured his ear. Shots also killed one rally attendee and seriously wounded two others.

The latest report also detailed information about Crooks’ autopsy report and the chain of events that led to release of the remains to the Crooks’s family. The Butler County Coroner’s office released the remains after the FBI concurred that no additional evidence was necessary, the report said.

The autopsy report found that Crooks died from one gunshot wound to the head, found negative results for alcohol or drugs of abuse, but was positive for antimony, selenium, and lead. Heightened levels of lead could have been due to time spent at the shooting range, the Allegheny County Chief Medical Examiner said.

The House force is made up of a bipartisan group of lawmakers and has also been assigned to investigate the September apparent assassination attempt on Trump in at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida.

“The Task Force will continue to rigorously investigate the July 13 assassination attempt in the coming months,” the report said, adding that it is “in the process of conducting more than 20 transcribed interviews of federal officials and others who may have knowledge relevant to the events of July 13.”

Supreme Court Responds To Michael Cohen Appeal

The Supreme Court will not get involved.

On Monday, the Supreme Court declined to revive Michael Cohen’s lawsuit seeking damages for retaliation during his prison sentence.

Cohen’s lawsuit comes after the former Trump “fixer” began serving his sentence for federal election finance crimes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to health reasons that would be exacerbated by the virus, Cohen’s prison term was furloughed, and he was temporarily sent to home confinement.

Officials later ordered him back to prison after he raised issue with a release condition asking him to waive his ability to criticize then-President Trump

A federal judge ruled to release Cohen again and said the former president’s ex-fixer suffered unconstitutional retaliation for wanting to critique Trump on social media and in a book. However, the judge later dismissed Cohen’s claim for damages over the incident.

The Hill reports:

“As it stands, this case represents the principle that presidents and their subordinates can lock away critics of the executive without consequence,” Cohen wrote in his request for the justices to hear his case.

Trump attorney Alina Habba said in the former president’s brief to the court that Cohen’s complaint is “entirely devoid of merit.” She also added a question over whether Cohen’s claim is barred by presidential immunity, which the justices declined to weigh.

Cohen testified as a star witness in the Manhattan district attorney’s criminal case against his former boss, which ended in a conviction in May, and took the stand in an earlier civil fraud trial against Trump and his business.

In a previous interview with The Hill, Cohen said his appeal to the justices was about deterrence. His experience, he said, was “merely a practice run” for the sweeping retribution Trump has vowed in a potential second term.

“Donald has opened up a Pandora’s box for future Trump 2.0s acting in the same autocratic manner,” Cohen said. “This writ of certiorari will be part of the process that would prevent any other U.S. citizen ever from being imprisoned because they refused to waive their First Amendment right or because they express criticism.”

The type of relief Cohen sought against Trump, various officials involved and the federal government itself for violating his constitutional rights is known as a Bivens claim. Over the past 44 years, the Supreme Court has turned away a dozen such lawsuits – making the ex-fixer’s request an uphill fight.

Trump Assassination Attempt Suspect Seeks Judge’s Recusal From Case

3

The man accused of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump at his Florida golf course in September filed a motion requesting the judge recuse herself from the case.

Ryan Routh’s legal team raised concerns about Judge Aileen Cannon’s impartiality due to her appointment by Trump and the former president’s public praise of her judicial decisions regarding his classified documents case, according to the motion.

Routh’s attorneys argued that the unique nature of the case could lead the public to question the fairness of the proceedings.

“Mr. Trump is the current Republican candidate for President in next month’s election. On the campaign trail, he has repeatedly praised Your Honor for her rulings in his case,” the motion stated. “By repeatedly and publicly praising this Court by name for its rulings in his case, Mr. Trump has arguably bolstered the perception that the Court is partial in his favor. Moreover, were Mr. Trump to become President again in the future, he would be in a position to nominate Your Honor to a vacancy on a higher appellate court, including the U.S. Supreme Court.”

The defense highlighted the potential conflict of interest, given Trump’s role as the alleged victim in this case.

“As the alleged victim here, he has a significant stake in the outcome of this case too. Were he to become President in the future, he would have authority to nominate Your Honor to a federal judgeship on a higher court were a vacancy to arise.”

Cannon previously granted former Trump’s motion to dismiss the classified documents case in July, siding with his argument that Special Counsel Jack Smith’s appointment was unconstitutional.

Trump Attends Al Smith Charity Dinner

    0

Donald Trump attended the Al Smith charity dinner customary for presidential candidates, and by most accounts, outdid himself, even with his reputation as an entertainer preceding him. His jokes landed well both with the in-person audience and viewers on social media, with X users sharing clips of his jokes hundreds of thousands of times. His masterful delivery only highlighted Harris’s absence, and the video she sent in place of her attendance seemed especially dull in comparison.

    Fox News reports:

This year’s Al Smith dinner, however, was set to be a bit different from previous years, as Vice President Kamala Harris skipped the in-person event, sending a pre-recorded video instead. The 2020 Al Smith dinner was also different from previous election years, as it was held virtually amid the pandemic’s lockdowns and social distancing requirements.

Harris’s video featured SNL actress Molly Shannon playing an obsessive and socially Catholic supporter who gave a short monologue about the importance of voting for a woman who had “more heart,” “more compassion” and “had to be smart to become a top contender in a field dominated by men.” It also included a couple of jabs at former President Trump, with Shannon advising Harris not to lie and her quipping, “especially about election results,” and not to say anything negative about Catholics, and Harris responding that she would never do that, and it would be like criticizing Detroit in Detroit, referencing recent comments made by Trump that her campaign insisted were rooted in racism.

While the audience seemed to roar in laughter at Trump’s jokes throughout the night, her video appeared to fall flat, receiving minimal laughter.

Some have speculated that she chose not to attend the iconic dinner because she’s not the most talented speaker, and without the scales tipped in her favor like at the ABC presidential debate where moderators Linsey David and David Muir joined her in her debate against Donald Trump, she can’t perform — especially side by side with Donald Trump.

The campaign denied these claims however, insisting, “The Vice President is going to be campaigning in a battleground state that day, and the campaign wants to maximize her time in the battlegrounds this close to the election. Her team also told the organizers that she would very much like to attend their event as President. This would make her one of the first sitting Presidents to attend.”

Trump took advantage of her absence, joking at the dinner, “I must say I was shocked when I heard that Kamala was skipping the Al Smith dinner. I’d really hoped that you would come, because we can’t get enough of hearing her beautiful laugh. She laughs like crazy.”

Prior to the event, Trump posted on social media, “Just found out that Lyin’ Kamala is doing a video message tonight instead of being at the Al Smith Dinner. She shouldn’t be allowed to do a video message. Kamala should be there like almost every other Presidential Candidate in their History, except Walter Mondale, who lost 49-1. They didn’t give me the option of a video message, nor would I have done it. This is very disrespectful to everyone involved. She should be here, or lose the Catholic Vote!”

    Fox News continues:

Dolan said he anticipates the dinner to raise roughly $9 million, which will be given to various charities to assist women and children in need, as part of the Church’s pro-life mission, according to a press release from the foundation.

Report: Judge Unseals More Documents In Trump Investigation

    4

    A new development…

The judge in former President Donald Trump’s federal election interference case ordered more documents to be revealed from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the former president just weeks before the 2024 election.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ordered on Thursday night that additional documents be made public.

The documents pertain to the appendix of exhibits in the fight over whether Trump has a level of presidential immunity that negates the charges against him.

Much of what readers are able to review is already public, including transcripts from the now-disbanded House Jan. 6 committee, press releases from various secretaries of state, the text of  Trump’s rally speech and phone call with Georgia officials, and even real election certificates showing President Biden as the winner of the 2020 contest. One of the exhibits appears to review much of Trump’s then-Twitter activity from the period of the election.

Chutkan cited in the order Trump’s claim that the “asymmetric release of charged allegations and related documents during early voting creates a concerning appearance of election interference.”

According to the judge, while there is a public interest for courts to avoid involving themselves in elections, “it is in fact Defendant’s requested relief that risks undermining that public interest.”

She added that the court would continue keeping political considerations out of decisions, despite the defense’s request.

Majority Of Pennsylvania County Sheriffs ‘Wholeheartedly Endorse’ Trump For President

The majority of county sheriffs in battleground state Pennsylvania endorsed former President Trump on Thursday.

Fox News Digital obtained a letter signed by 49 of the 67 county sheriffs in the state, who said Trump is the best candidate to support law enforcement and secure the border.

“As elected law enforcement officers in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, we consistently hear two messages from our constituents and neighbors: that they want safe communities for their families and children, and that they oppose radical defund-the-police agendas by career politicians,” they wrote.

“That is why we are proudly standing with President Donald J. Trump and wholeheartedly endorse his candidacy for President of the United States.”

The county sheriffs said that “even before” Trump was a candidate for office, he “stood shoulder-to-shoulder with police and law enforcement.”

“He is the only candidate who has supported and continues to support law and order, law enforcement, and our duty to serve our communities and keep them safe,” they wrote. “This is most evident with our Southern Borde

The county sheriffs pointed to the Trump administration, where they said the U.S. had “a secure border and proper enforcement of our immigration laws.”

“World leaders respected President Trump, and border crossings fell,” they wrote. “Without his strong leadership, our border has been swung open – open to thousands of border crossers each day and unimaginable quantities of lethal drugs such as fentanyl and methamphetamine that are pouring right into Pennsylvania communities, bringing crime and devastation to countless families.”

The counties represented by the sheriffs endorsing Trump include Adams, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Berks, Blair, Bradford, Bucks, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Carbon, Clarion, Clearfield, Crawford, Cumberland, Dauphin, Elk, Fayette, Forest, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lycoming, McKean, Mercer, Mifflin, Montour, Northumerland, Perry, Potter, Snyder, Somerset, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Venango, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Westmoreland and York.

Fox News Host ‘Baffled’ By Kamala’s Lack Of Preparation

Fox News host Geraldo Rivera might be regretting his endorsement.

Days after backing the Democrat nominee the Fox News host was left stunned after her lack of preparation for her interview with anchor Bret Baier on Wednesday.

Rivera and Sean Spicer joined NewsNation’s Dan Abrams, founder of Mediaite, on Wednesday to break down Harris’s interview and despite Rivera’s public support for Harris, he was left mostly unimpressed with her appearance.

“I am baffled by the lack of preparation going into the highest profile interview she has,” Rivera said, calling the interview “a wash.”

He argued that Harris’s weak point was in terms of immigration and the southern border.

“For example, she knew, they knew, the Democrats knew that it was going to be all about immigration. Bret was going to come out smoking on immigration and he would culminate his lament over how awful the situation is with pictures of the victims. That’s the Republican playbook, it’s obvious that it was coming. How could she not be ready to answer Laken Riley and Mollie Tibbetts and so forth?” he said.

The southern border, he added, will continue to be the weak point for Harris and her campaign.

“From this moment on, I advise them to not be the doormat when it comes to this issue,” he said. “It’s their biggest Achilles heel.”

Donald Trump released a statement after Kamala’s interview:

“Kamala Harris’ interview with Bret Baier was a TRAIN WRECK. Kamala was angry, defensive, and once again abdicated any responsibility for the problems Americans are facing. She couldn’t give a straight answer to a single question because she has no answers. Kamala’s entire campaign is based on lies about President Trump. Kamala can’t handle the pressure of an interview with Fox News—she certainly can’t handle the pressure of being President of the United States.”

Panel Reports Another Assassination Attempt ‘Likely’

An independent panel investigating the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump released its findings this week.

The report which was released to the public on Thursday predicted that without significant reform measures, another potshot assassination attempt like the one on former President Donald Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania earlier this year “can and will happen again.”

According to the panel, its investigation revealed “deep flaws in the Secret Service, including some that appear to be systemic or cultural,” including: “a lack of clarity, in practice, regarding who has overall security ownership of a protectee’s site on the day of an event,” and “a troubling lack of critical thinking by Secret Service personnel,” among other issues.

In a letter presenting their findings to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, the panel wrote, “The United States Secret Service aspires to be the best protective service of high-ranking government officials in the world. This is a zero-fail mission, for any failure endangers not only the life of the protectee, but also the fundamentals of our government itself. Today, however, the Secret Service does not perform at the elite levels needed to discharge its critical mission. The Secret Service has become bureaucratic, complacent, and static even though risks have multiplied and technology has evolved.”

“Thousands of men and women have dedicated their lives to the Secret Service, and we remain grateful to them for their bravery, selflessness, and willingness to serve in a vital role,” they continued. “But the Secret Service as an agency requires fundamental reform to carry out its mission. Without that reform, the Independent Review Panel believes another Butler can and will happen again.”

McConnell Biography Unveils Senate Leaders Private Reaction After 2020 Election

A new biography on Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) exposes new details surrounding his tense relationship with former President Donald Trump.

Michael Tackett, deputy Washington bureau chief at the Associated Press, drew from nearly three decades of McConnell’s political career using sources including recorded diaries by the elder statesmen and past interviews. In the finished book, The Price of Power, which hits shelves on October 29, Tackett uncovered several shockingly negative assessments of the ex-president by McConnell, who has publicly expressed his support and endorsed him in the 2024 election.

After Trump lost the election in 2020, McConnell congratulated his former Senate colleague President Joe Biden and warned his fellow Republicans not to challenge the election results. But behind the scenes — and as Trump tried and failed to overturn the election results — he apparently couldn’t wait to see the last of Trump:

Privately, he said in his oral history that “it’s not just the Democrats who are counting the days” until Trump left office, and that Trump’s behavior “only underscores the good judgment of the American people. They’ve had just enough of the misrepresentations, the outright lies almost on a daily basis, and they fired him.”

“And for a narcissist like him,” McConnell continued, “that’s been really hard to take, and so his behavior since the election has been even worse, by far, than it was before, because he has no filter now at all.”

Before those Georgia runoffs, McConnell said Trump is “stupid as well as being ill-tempered and can’t even figure out where his own best interests lie.”

An account of the aftermath of January 6, which had McConnell in a secure location while his aides “barricaded” in the office, revealed an emotional moment between the former Senate Majority Leader and his staff:

McConnell then went to his office to address his staff, some of whom had barricaded themselves in the office as rioters banged on their doors. He started to sob softly as he thanked them, Tackett writes.

“You are my family, and I hate the fact that you had to go through this,” he told them.

Fox News Host Endorses Kamala Harris

Former Fox News host Geraldo Rivera has publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president, marking a dramatic shift after years of aligning himself with former President Donald Trump. Rivera, who had long been a supporter and personal friend of Trump, announced his support for Harris in a statement posted Monday morning.

Rivera’s endorsement, titled “Sore Loser,” came with sharp criticism of Trump’s post-2020 election actions. He reflected on the political journey of the former president, recounting their relationship from Trump’s 2016 run through his tumultuous time in office. Rivera noted that while he initially admired Trump’s rise to power, his views changed dramatically following the 2020 election and the subsequent events that led to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

“Donald J. Trump stands a reasonable chance of becoming the 47th President of the United States,” Rivera wrote. “Despite assassination attempts, impeachments, special counsels, felony convictions, and hundreds of millions in civil penalties, most polls show his race against V.P. Kamala Harris is too close to call.”

The veteran broadcaster expressed disappointment with Trump’s response to his 2020 election loss, highlighting their final conversation in November 2020. According to Rivera, Trump was initially open to the idea of accepting the election results, but later changed course, engaging in what Rivera described as a “menacing campaign” to discredit the election.

“None exists,” Rivera said, referring to Trump’s unfounded claims of systemic election fraud. He accused Trump of misleading Republicans and his supporters into believing in the so-called “Big Lie” about the stolen election, leading to the chaotic breach at the Capitol.

In his statement, Rivera criticized Trump’s handling of the events of Jan. 6, 2021, including the pressure Trump exerted on then-Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the election results. “Trump stabbed the Constitution in the back,” Rivera added.

At that point, Rivera, whose net worth is estimated at around $20 million, criticized tens of millions of Trump supporters who believe, as economic indicators show, that the economy was stronger during Trump’s presidency—especially in contrast to the soaring inflation and real wages lagging far behind under the Biden-Harris administration.

Rivera also failed to acknowledge the appeal of Trump’s other policies for many voters, such as those focused on border security and world peace.

The television personality did not mince words about his opinion of supporting Trump again. “If you are a Republican, Donald Trump has made a liar of you,” he said.

Rivera concluded his endorsement by stating, “That is why I am voting for Kamala Harris to be our 47th President.”

Sunday’s NBC News poll shows Trump pulling even with Kamala Harris after trailing by 5 points last month.

On Monday, CNN revealed that Trump is performing better with Black voters than any Republican since the 1960s—and it’s not just due to Black men. The poll also shows that Harris is attracting fewer Black female voters than any Democrat since the 1960s.

While he was not technically “fired” from Fox News, Rivera left the network under contentious circumstances in June 2023. Rivera announced his departure from The Five, one of Fox News’ most popular shows, after a series of disagreements with his co-hosts, particularly over his opposition to Trump. He hinted at tensions behind the scenes, saying his exit was “amicable,” but also indicated he was “fired” from The Five.

Rivera first joined Fox News Channel in 2001. Over the years, he became a prominent figure at the network, hosting his own show, Geraldo at Large, and appearing regularly on various Fox News programs, including The Five.
