Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) introduced a bill Tuesday seeking to add President Trump’s face to the Mount Rushmore monument.
“His remarkable accomplishments for our country and the success he will continue to deliver deserve the highest recognition and honor on this iconic national monument,” Luna wrote in a Tuesday post on the social platform X.
“Let’s get carving!”
The Interior Department would be in charge of undertaking Trump’s addition to the South Dakota landmark if approved by Congress.
“Mount Rushmore, a timeless symbol of our nation’s freedom and strength, deserves to reflect his towering legacy—a legacy further solidified by the powerful start to his second term,” Luna shared in a separate statement.
“He will be forever remembered among the great like Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt.”
Luna is not the first person to float the idea. Fox News contributors this week suggested adding Trump’s face to Mount Rushmore to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the country’s founding, which is set for 2026.
“If you did, like, the 250th anniversary of the country at Mount Rushmore with President Trump’s face, it would be epic,” Kayleigh McEnany, Trump’s former press secretary, said this week on Fox News Channel’s “Outnumbered.”
I know Republicans and Libertarians are excited over Trump’s return. Rightly so.
But, don’t you think this is premature? It’s Trump’s SECOND WEEK! We’ll have 4 years to bestow such honors. Monuments shouldn’t be a high priority now.
Right now they should pass the bill where a President can serve a third term as long as only two are consecutive terms. Trump 2028. That would set a firm precedence for being on the Mount Rushmore monument.
No, and he’ll no! Besides, this would require a Constitutional amendment, not a law.
Yes, I would have to see how the current law is stated. Does it forbid 3 consecutive terms? If that’s the restriction, he could serve a 3rd term because 2016, 2024 and 2028 are not consecutive. And there is a lot to fix and correct permanently after Biden almost destroyed this republic.
Very bad idea. There should be no, absolutely none, monuments carved into the natural rock. We need Nature unadulterated, no human faces defacing the Earth.
The faces already defiling the cliff should be removed, and no new mutilations added.
Ridiculous. We want to preserve historical monuments. They want to alter them. Besides, this would make democrats want to chisel Obummer onto the mountain. And they are the champion chiselers.

I have 2 thoughts about this idea.
1. It is VERY premature. Let him serve out his term, before any suggestions like this are seriously considered.
2. Mt. Rushmore is probably not stable enough at this point to withstand another round of several years of chi selling rock to carve ANYONE’S FACE in it. Leave it be.
I also tend to agree with the last comment. The last thing I want to see is the face of either Obama or Biden carved into a mountain where we have to look at it every time we pass.

Hey, I voted for Trump 3 times, but this idea is just plain stupid.
