Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) said he would block pardoned Capitol insurrectionists from serving in local government positions, citing a state law ordinance, according to a Thursday letter obtained by The Hill.

“The State’s Personnel Code, administered by the Department of Central Management Services (CMS) and by you as its Director, requires the rejection of candidates for State employment who have engaged in infamous or disgraceful conduct (20 ILCS 415/8b.4),” Pritzker wrote to Raven A. DeVaughn, director of the state’s CMS.

“To protect the integrity of our workforce and safety of our State, I hereby direct CMS to apply the State Personnel Code and consider any participation in the January 6 insurrection as infamous and disgraceful conduct that is antithetical to the mission of the State.”

Earlier in the directive, Pritzker outlined the actions of Jan. 6 rioters who stormed the Capitol four years ago.

“These rioters were accused or convicted of a combination of felonies and misdemeanors, including but not limited to: violence against law enforcement officers, threats against Members of Congress, destruction of federal property, and many other crimes. These crimes attacks threatened public safety as Members of Congress, staff, and other workers who were forced to hide from the violence for hours,” he detailed.

“I am committed to building a State workforce that upholds our shared values and delivers results for the people of Illinois. Our State workforce must reflect the values of Illinois and demonstrate honesty, integrity, and loyalty to serving the taxpayers,” he added.

“No one who attempts to overthrow a government should serve in government,” he concluded.

President Trump signed an executive order after his inauguration granting pardons to more than 1,500 individuals charged in connection with the January 6 Capitol riot. He also announced several commutations for those who committed violent acts during the event. (RELATED: Trump Pardons Capitol Riot Participants)

The president has defended his decision to free the rioters.

“These people have already served years in prison, and they’ve served them viciously. It’s a disgusting prison. It’s horrible. It’s been inhumane,” Trump told reporters, claiming the American public sided with his choice.

    1. Gov. Pritzker, What on this are you thinking, most all of them were led inside the lower left side of the building by the Capitol police, they were then shown clear upstairs. This was all a scam set up by Pelosi & the FBI so they could blame Pres. Trump. I watched it happen not an EVIL edited version. Now you owe that person an apoligy.

      • He’s a lefty. They are determined to ignore the will of Americans nor admit their rad left ideology has been REJECTED by the people. Another brainwashed rich putz with his eyes on the WH or an extra large pizza.

    2. Any, and EVERY one of those political prisoners who didn’t have actual charges, or weren’t convicted of any crime should sue fat boy PERSONALLY if they’re refused employment in their chosen field.

    3. Does that also exclude BLM, Antifa, rapists who enjoyed the slew of women involved in the riots too, anybody that helped destroy businesses no matter what state they were rioting in. Oh, and don’t forget the rioters who set buildings on fire killing people sleeping in their own apartments. The only person killed during J6 was an unarmed lady who got pulled along with the crowd and a govt employee without looking where he was pointing his gun killed her and after a tiny investigation, it is now a forgotten incident with no charges. The majority of J6 people after threats from the govt of being in jail for years were told by their lawyers to agree to entering the Capitol building which they were invited to do by the Capital police and still got prison terms with their lives ruined for being in the Capital. Not one Antifa was arrested, and they were recognized rushing the Capital and burning American flags at the Capital and the media said they were Trump people. Never have I seen Trump people burning an American flag or burning down buildings with people inside. Bet this Illinois govt already has these wonderful people in his state jobs doesn’t he.

    4. “Sanctuary” Pritzker has no problem protecting illegal aliens, federal immigration lawbreakers to-a-one, but is all upset that the Liz Cheney/Nancy Pelosi January 6 Souls didn’t get life-in-prison for demonstrating peacefully. Don’t flatter yourself Mr. Pritzker that any unjustly jailed January 6 prisoner would be so desperate as to seek out a state position under you. This is all hype on your part, hoping you can use this when you run for president in 2028. You have as must chance of being elected as a rodent!
