On Christmas Day, President-elect Donald Trump revealed he advised hockey legend Wayne Gretzky to run for Prime Minister of Canada.
Trump shared a post on Truth Social revealing a recent meeting with Gretzky where he said, “Wayne, why don’t you run for Prime Minister of Canada, soon to be known as the Governor of Canada – You would win easily, you wouldn’t even have to campaign.” Though Gretzky had no interest, according to Trump, the president-elect encouraged the people of Canada to “start a DRAFT WAYNE GRETZKY Movement. It would be so much fun to watch!”
Trump posted on social media:
I just left Wayne Gretzky, “The Great One” as he is known in Ice Hockey circles. I said, “Wayne, why don’t you run for Prime Minister of Canada, soon to be known as the Governor of Canada – You would win easily, you wouldn’t even have to campaign.” He had no interest, but I think the people of Canada should start a DRAFT WAYNE GRETZKY Movement. It would be so much fun to watch!
The current Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, recently met with Trump at his Palm Beach residence, Mar-a-Lago, following threats of increased tariffs. Trudeau has also reportedly considered resigning from his role as he faces internal pressure from within his own party.
