A Canadian woman accused of slapping a teenage girl because she was wearing pro-Trump clothing at the Jersey Shore has landed in the custody of the very agency featured on the teen’s outfit.
Kaitlyn E. Tracey, 33, is being held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after police say she assaulted a 16-year-old girl during a Fourth of July weekend confrontation on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk. ICE records show Tracey is currently being held at the Delaney Hall detention facility in Newark.
According to NJ.com, the incident unfolded after Tracey allegedly approached a group of teenagers while recording them with her cellphone. Police say she took issue with the group’s “patriotic colored sweatpants with political wording,” including pants displaying the words “Trump” and “ICE.”
Investigators allege Tracey then “slapped the victim across her face and body.”
The Point Pleasant Beach Police Department said surveillance video captured Tracey allegedly “striking the juvenile female, once to the body and once to the face, with an open hand” before fleeing the scene.
Authorities later identified Tracey through surveillance footage and other investigative methods before taking her into custody. She has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment and obstruction.
The case took another turn when federal immigration authorities became involved.
According to reports, Tracey entered the United States from Canada in 2024 but remained after her authorized stay expired, making her subject to immigration enforcement.
A Department of Homeland Security official told the New York Post that the case reflects the Trump administration’s enforcement policy.
“Illegal aliens who break our laws will be arrested and deported,” the official said, confirming Tracey is being held in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings.
On Tuesday, a man identifying himself as Tracey’s husband posted an emotional video on social media announcing that she had been detained.
“Yesterday, July 13, my wife was detained by ICE and brought to Delaney Hall in North New Jersey,” he said.
He has since argued that the confrontation has been exaggerated, telling NJ.com, “This whole situation has been blown out of proportion and a person like Kate does not belong in any facility.”
Although he acknowledged he was not present during the incident, he insisted his wife was not the aggressor and blamed online backlash for drawing national attention to the case.
The allegations have fueled widespread reaction online because of the apparent irony that the woman accused of attacking a teenager over clothing supporting Trump and ICE ultimately ended up in ICE custody herself.
Tracey is expected to appear in New Jersey court to face the criminal charges while separate immigration proceedings determine whether she will be deported to Canada.

Wanted to have a say about voting fraud. How dumb does everyone think the public is? Of course there is plenty of opportunity to CHEAT. The fix is making everyone register and show proof of citizenship before they cast a vote. So what Trump wants congress to do is the right thing to restore our faith in elections at the state and federal level.
Why is congress against it? Because they like to win their own elections particularly the democrats who are truly against registering with the id and proof of being a citizen of the USA. And those who vote illegally can be rounded up easily and prevented from negating the vote of real citizens qualified to vote which I completely agree with.
Vote illegally or even try to then go to jail on a one way ticket to leave the USA. I think this should be pursued agressively. What is at risk? My vote as a legal registered voter and I never mind showing my id and proving I am a citizen of the state of AZ.
It is time to shut the door on any illegal voters! It is wide open right now!
I used to live in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. Very nice shore town that is open all year long, not just seasonally. The boardwalk is a fun place with lots of restaurants and activities.
We are a conservative community that votes REPUBLICAN Both the mayor and the Borough Council have historically maintained strong GOP majorities
We have a strong tradition of political involvement and encourages residents to make their voices heard by engaging in meaningful conversations about the issues that matter most to them. The local government provides plenty of opportunities for citizens to get involved and ultimately make their mark on the politics of Point Pleasant Beach. The political climate in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ is moderately conservative.
Ocean County, NJ is strongly conservative. In Ocean County, NJ 34.9% of the people voted Democrat in the last presidential election, 63.5% voted for the Republican Party, and the remaining 1.6% voted Independent.
Ocean county voted Republican in every Presidential election since 2000.
All this being said, FOREIGNERS coming into the USA should not bring THEIR politics into the USA. And they certainly should NOT be asaultng MINOR CHILDREN.
The Canadian “Slapper” was 2 years past her visa and in the USA ILLEGALLY. Boo hoo hoo that she got CAUGHT. After assaultaing a KID. For the CLOTHES she was wearing. We don’t need these kinds of people coming to and staying illegally in the USA.
NJ is a very diverse, highly populated, small state. Some areas lean Democrat, some lean Republican. But we don’t go slapping each other around because of how we vote or who we like.
Springsteen, Bon Jovvy, Queen Latifa, Billy Joel and more have homes in Rumson,, Point, etc. They are raving Democrats. Ok, so what? Do you see them slapping residents around? Actually, Springsteen just trolls the beaches to pick up women LOL (FACT)
The SLAPPER was caught on tape. NOT alleged, ON VIDEO. Deport the POS and revoke any visitor visa for 10 years.
Joisey don’t play that game
