Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes has been sentenced to 18 years in prison following his conviction on seditious conspiracy theories for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol.

A federal judge delivered the sentence on Thursday. The sentencing represents the longest prison term yet assigned to a figure involved in the riot despite Rhodes not entering the Capitol building that day, according to reports from The Hill.

“He exploited his vast public influence as the leader of the Oath Keepers and used his talents for manipulation to goad more than twenty other American citizens into using force, intimidation, and violence to seek to impose their preferred result on a U.S. presidential election,” the Justice Department wrote in a sentencing memo earlier this month.

Seditious conspiracy carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence, but the Justice Department also sought a terrorism enhancement for Rhodes as well as other Oath Keepers defendants.

Judge Amit Mehta largely sided with the Justice Department, which suggested a 25-year prison sentence for Rhodes. The DOJ largely argued the former Army soldier encouraged other fellow veterans to violate the oaths to defend the Constitution they took when beginning their service.

  1. What a crap SOCIALISM is in the USA…JB …what is getting $$$$ from CCP…amigos we are in a two-justice system under BIDEN

  2. I think the 25 year sentencing was a bit heavy handed as this Judge and concerned legislators often live in a different world and social plateau. Did he do wrong, YES!
With that being said I see him making a judgement mistake and should have received some jail time with additional time hinged to house arrest so he can return to family, friends, and society and learn by his mistakes as a rehabilitated citizen.

  3. What about Ray Epps? He was out encouraging people to break through fence. He was used by FBI. and Government and media have ignored him. Bring him in.

  4. This is part of the commie democrap kangaroo court system to put fear in anyone else to stand up for their rights and this country to protect it from these corrupt election stealing commie democrap assholes. These demoturds need prosecuted. This whole J6 farce needs investigated.

  5. Easily overturnable. He did nothing wrong. But if you riot, burn, loot, rape, steal and murder and are part of bLM (lower case b = total dis) or antifa all is ok.

  6. This is wrong, despicable! Let’s talk about the FBI, DOJ agents who were undercover & encouraged the people to enter the Capitol. They should be in jail with Wray & Garland. ALso, Pelosi since she is the one who refused the additional security when it was offered by Trump. May all these people feel the backlash, the consequences as the american people have felt.

  7. The Oath Keeper sustenance is way too harsh. Other Capitol protestors also were over charged. Those Oath Keeper protesters were not armed at the Capitol and their stash of weapons never left their hotel room away from the Capitol. Same deal with other protesters other than the sticks on which they had put their protest signs or American flags. The protest got out of control as The Democrat House Speaker declined troop and police reinforcements, even though a huge crowd was expected. I hope a GOP candidate becomes president in 2024 and commutes the severe sentences.

  8. This sure sets a very bad precedent. The man was note even at this rally. Yet a judge gives him a long jail term. This is WRONG. When we get a Republican president , he must pardon everyone that was put in jail by these communists.

  9. If you don’t think the federal justice system is totally corrupt and skewed, you are probably a low information Democrat.
