Trump Eyeing Elon Musk For Potential Cabinet Role

0

Former President Donald Trump recently expressed his willingness to consider Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk for a Cabinet position if he wins the White House in the upcoming election. Trump praised Musk, calling him a “brilliant guy” and adding, “He’s a very smart guy. I certainly would, if he would do it, I certainly would.”

Trump also hinted at potentially reversing the $7,500 tax credit currently available to Americans who purchase electric vehicles. The Biden administration has been promoting these incentives as part of its broader climate change agenda. Trump, however, commented, “Tax credits and tax incentives are not generally a very good thing,” following a campaign event on Monday in York, Pennsylvania.

Musk’s Response: Willingness to Serve

Musk responded later that day with a late-night tweet that featured a photo of himself standing at what appeared to be a podium with the acronym “D.O.G.E.,” an acronym for the ficitious “Department of Government Efficiency.” In his tweet, Musk stated, “I am willing to serve.”

Just last week, Trump and Musk engaged in a viral two-hour conversation on X, during which Musk expressed interest in participating in a government role. He specifically mentioned his interest in serving on a commission focused on analyzing national debt and reassessing congressional spending, though the idea of a Cabinet role was not directly addressed. Musk said, “I think it would be great to just have a government efficiency commission that looks at these things to make sure taxpayer money is spent in a good way. I’d be happy to help out on such a commission.”

Musk has publicly thrown his support behind Trump in the presidential race, endorsing him immediately after the July 13 assassination attempt and backing a super PAC supporting Trump’s campaign.

During his campaign event in York, Trump also accused Vice President Kamala Harris of being aware of substantial foreign funds allegedly accumulated by the Biden family during Joe Biden’s vice presidency.

He referenced a report by House Republicans accusing Biden of committing impeachable offenses, including “abuse of power” and “obstruction of justice or obstruction of Congress,” by allegedly facilitating and concealing a $27 million “influence-peddling racket” dating back to his time as vice president.

Trump Changes Plan For Fox News Debate

On Monday, former President Trump revealed Vice President Kamala Harris’ team told his campaign that she would not participate in a Fox News presidential debate on September 4.

The proposed debate would have been held in Pennsylvania and moderated by Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.

“I am not surprised by this development because I feel that she knows it is very difficult, at best, for her to defend her record setting Flip-Flopping on absolutely everything she once believed in, including her statements that THERE WILL BE NO FRACKING IN PENNSYLVANIA and her HORRIBLE Performance on the Border,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.

Trump and Harris have both confirmed they would participate in a Sept. 10 debate on ABC News. Trump previously said he also agreed to an NBC News debate on Sept. 25.

The Harris campaign has said it would consider a second presidential debate in October. Both campaigns have also agreed to a vice presidential debate on CBS News on Oct. 1 between Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz and Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance.

“Voters deserve to see the candidates for the highest office in the land share their competing visions for our future,” Harris’ campaign communications director Michael Tyler said in a statement last week. “The more they play games, the more insecure and unserious Trump and Vance reveal themselves to be to the American people. Those games end now.”

In place of the Fox News debate, Trump says he will participate in a town hall in Pennsylvania with Fox News host Sean Hannity.

“Rather than the debate on September 4th, I have agreed to do a Tele-Town Hall, anchored by Sean Hannity, for Fox. It will take place in the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania – Details to follow!” Trump posted on Truth Social.

Report: Manhattan DA Signals Openness To Delaying Trump Criminal Sentencing

1

This could be big…

The Manhattan district attorney’s office said it would not oppose delaying former President Trump’s sentencing, a significant step forward for Trump who has sought to delay sentencing until after the 2024 presidential election.

In a two-page letter responding to Trump’s delay request that became public Monday, prosecutors said some of his other arguments had no merit, and “there are strong reasons” why Trump should not be permitted to appeal an unfavorable immunity ruling prior to sentencing.

“Nonetheless, given the defense’s newly-stated position, we defer to the Court on whether an adjournment is warranted to allow for orderly appellate litigation of that question, or to reduce the risk of a disruptive stay from an appellate court pending consideration of that question,” state lawyer Matthew Colangelo wrote in the filing.

Prosecutors also noted that “significant public safety and logistical steps” by numerous agencies are necessary when Trump appears in court, raising concern that such steps would be taken ahead of his sentencing and then “disturbed” by the former president’s appeals.

Prosecutors’ letter went on to flatly reject Trump’s other arguments. Howeverm their lack of objection to delaying Trump’s sentencing raises a strong possibility that it will be pushed deeper into the campaign season or even past November’s election.

In May, Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with a hush money deal his ex-fixer made with a porn actor who said she had an affair with Trump, which he has denied. It marked the first criminal conviction of any former president.

Report: Kamala And Trump In Statistical Tie

Republicans are concerned…

Kamala Harris appears to be gaining on Donald Trump according to a new poll reporting the to in a statistical tie.

The poll, conducted by Cygnal from August 6-8 of 1,500 expected general election voters, shows Trump and Harris in a statistical tie. In a head-to-head match up, Harris has 47.6% of the vote to Trump’s 47% — with 5.5% of voters saying they were undecided. In a full ballot that includes candidates like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Cornel West, Trump got 44.4% and Harris earned 44.2%.

The Daily Wire reports:

“After one of the wildest six weeks of American politics, we find ourselves back at more of a stasis,” said Cygnal pollster Chris Lane. “The idea that Kamala Harris came into this race and Independents and moderates stumbled over each other to support her is simply not the case.”

Lane said that the tightening up of the race was primarily due to President Joe Biden dropping out.

“The truth is traditional Democrat voters simply started to indicate they are going to vote for the Democratic Presidential candidate, a not so shocking revelation,” he said. “Biden had such a low floor that it was hard to believe that could last.”

The poll also found that more voters trust Trump on issues of illegal immigration, inflation and cost of living, and economy and jobs. Among independents, Trump was favored by 18 points on immigration, seven points on inflation, and six points on the economy.

Overall, the top issues for voters were inflation and the economy, illegal immigration, and “threats to democracy.”

The poll found that Harris also appeared to be having trouble solidifying support among people who voted for Biden in 2020.

“At the same time, Harris faces challenges solidifying her support with 13 percent of 2020 Biden voters saying they do not consider themselves part of her base and a whopping 71 percent of likely voters perceiving Harris as ‘liberal’ versus only 15 percent who view her as ‘moderate,’” he said. “That label will push away Independent voters while Trump maintains the edge on the issues voters care about most – the economy, cost of living, and illegal immigration.”

Secret Service Increases Security Protocols For Trump Rallies

It’s about time…

According to a federal official, Donald Trump’s future outdoor rallies will have increased security measures.

Former President Trump will have bulletproof glass surrounding his podium for outdoor events going forward, a federal law enforcement source briefed on the planning told Fox News

Indoor events, meanwhile, will not involve the same level of protection, the source confirmed.

The additional level of protection comes after an assassination attempt on the former president during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania last month.

The president was addressing the open-air crowd, just minutes into his speech, when a gunman fired at him from the rooftop of a nearby building.

Trump managed to just barely turn his head and duck beneath the podium. A Secret Service member killed the gunman just seconds after he opened fire.

Trump was struck in the ear but avoided serious injury. One spectator in the audience was killed and two others were injured.

The security failure has brought heavy scrutiny on the Secret Service, which had been responsible for coordinating with local law enforcement.

Report: Trump Seeks To Delay Criminal Sentencing

Former President Trump asked the New York judge who oversaw his recent criminal trial to delay his sentencing until after November’s presidential election.

Judge Juan Merchan previously agreed to push the date back until September so he can first decide whether the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity decision requires tossing Trump’s guilty verdict.

“[S]etting aside naked election-interference objectives, there is no valid countervailing reason for the Court to keep the current sentencing date on the calendar,” Trump attorneys Todd Blanche and Emil Bove wrote in a letter to the judge, which was made public Thursday.

“There is no basis for continuing to rush,” the letter continued. “Accordingly, we respectfully request that any sentencing, if one is needed, be adjourned until after the Presidential election.”

In May, a New York jury convicted Trump on all 34 counts of falsifying business records.

Trump’s sentencing in New York was originally slated for July, but the judge pushed it back to Sept. 18 after the Supreme Court ruled that presidents are immune from criminal prosecution for official acts.

According to The Hill, Trump does not claim immunity from the hush money charges themselves, but he asserts that prosecutors at trial improperly introduced immunized evidence, so his verdict must be wiped as a result. Prosecutors have pushed back on the argument, and Merchan is set to rule on the matter two days before sentencing.

Trump’s attorneys said the small gap is an “unreasonably short period of time,” signaling the former president will immediately attempt to appeal if the judge rejects his immunity arguments.

“The requested adjournment is also necessary to allow President Trump adequate time to assess and pursue state and federal appellate options in response to adverse ruling,” the letter reads.

The letter also noted Merchan’s third refusal to recuse from the case Wednesday.

“Notwithstanding the Court’s ruling on the disputed recusal issue, the requested adjournment would prospectively mitigate the asserted conflicts and appearances of impropriety, which are also the subject of an ongoing congressional inquiry,” Blanche and Bove wrote in the letter.

Family of Isaac Hayes Sues Trump Over Playing Hit Song

The family of late soul singer Isaac Hayes is suing former President Donald Trump for using the icon’s music at his rallies, Isaac Hayes III announced last week.

The filing accused the former president and the Republican Nation Committee of “willfully and brazenly” engaging in 134 counts of copyright infringement.

A letter to Trump and his campaign from the Georgia-based law firm Walker & Associates reads:

Our firm has been retained by the family and Isaac Hayes Enterprises, who own the copyright to the musical composition and recording “Hold On (I’m Coming)” (the “Song”). It has come to our attention that you or the campaign have authorized the illegal public performance of the Song on multiple occasions during various rallies for your political campaign without authorization from the copyright holder, despite being asked repeatedly not to engage in such illegal use by our client.

Upon information and belief, you, your campaign, and/or the RNC and other parties have willfully and brazenly engaged in copyright infringement in violation of several provisions of Title 17 U.S.C., including § 501, of the Copyright Act of 1976, as amended, over one hundred times. We have attached for your convenience a non-exhaustive list attached hereto as Exhibit A. As we prepared this letter, there was an additional use in Montana just two nights ago, even with your office apparently aware that you had no permission. We and the family hereby demand that you cease the continual infringement of our copyright and stop all unauthorized use of the Song.

The suit further demands Trump pay $3 million, stop using the song, and to remove any campaign multimedia of the song being played at rallies. Hayes’ estate also demanded Trump issue a statement acknowledging he played the song without permission.

Google Executives Face Consequences After Censoring Trump Assassination Attempt Photo

1

Google admitted to censoring recent searches for photos of the Trump assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) launched an investigation into Google after its autocomplete search results did not register the assassination attempt against Trump on July 13. In a letter, Sen. Marshall questioned the company over the search function, asking about its algorithm and what decisions were made in the aftermath of the attack on Trump.

In its response to the senator, Google Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Policy, US and Canada Mark Isakowitz listed the policies that guide the autocomplete function.

“We do not allow predictions that can be interpreted as accusations against individuals or groups of serious malevolent acts, where there is a lack of well-established or expert supporting evidence,” he said.

However, Marshall told Fox News Digital in a statement on Wednesday that Google’s search autocomplete function was still omitting Trump assassination attempt results as of his public inquiry to the company on July 28.

“Google is now openly admitting that they were blocking and eliminating search prompts regarding the assassination attempt on President Trump,” the senator told Fox News Digital in an exclusive statement. “Most shocking is their bizarre written defense that Trump’s assassination attempt was a ‘hypothetical act of political violence’ even up to the point of our public inquiry on July 28th.”

The company explained in its letter to him, “In the immediate aftermath of the horrific events in Butler, PA, these systems were still in place and predictions related to the assassination attempt failed to appear. We recognize that these out-of-date systems led to an inadequate user experience.”

Sen. Marshall still wasn’t satisfied by Google’s response.

“In response to this letter, I am demanding that Google’s top executives testify under oath before the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee,” the Kansas senator said. “Under oath, they won’t be able to hide behind an algorithm or get away with corporate double-speak.”

According to Marshall, the committee is “launching a full investigation into Google’s litany of offenses.” He added that it is “time for accountability and consequence.”

Trump Hush Money Judge Responds To Latest Recusal Request

3

The New York judge who oversaw former President Trump’s criminal trial refused the latest request to recuse himself from the case over his daughter’s work for Democrats.

It marks the third time that Judge Juan Merchan has refused to recuse himself, insisting there is no conflict and that he will remain on the case as it proceeds to sentencing in September.

“Stated plainly, Defendant’s arguments are nothing more than a repetition of stale and unsubstantiated claims,” Merchan wrote in his ruling.

Despite being denied twice, Trump’s lawyers once again filed for Judge Merchan to recuse himself after Presdient Biden ended his re-election bid.

“Your Honor’s daughter has a long-standing relationship with Harris, including work for political campaigns. She has obtained — and stands to obtain in the future — extensive financial, professional, and personal benefits from her relationship with Harris,” Trump attorneys Todd Blanche and Emil Bove wrote in their request.

But the judge spurned the accusation that he has a conflict, noting that a state ethics advisory committee last year provided guidance that he didn’t need to step aside.

“This Court now reiterates for the third time, that which should already be clear – innuendo and mischaracterizations do not a conflict create. Recusal is therefore not necessary, much less required,” Merchan wrote.

The judge has, however, received a warning for making $35 total in political contributions to the Biden campaign and two liberal-leaning groups, including one called “Stop Republicans.” Though the donations occurred before Merchan took on Trump’s hush money case, ethics rules bar New York judges from making political contributions.

“The acting Justice has consistently and recklessly displayed his personal bias against President Trump throughout the case, including issuing an illegal, unconstitutional, and election-interfering Gag Order against the President and his campaign, and admitting
constitutionally prohibited ‘evidence’ at trial,” Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement. “The Highly-Conflicted Judge should have long ago recused himself from this case.”

Union Files Charges Against Trump And Musk Claiming ‘Worker Intimidation’

On Tuesday, the United Auto Workers (UAW) filed federal labor charges against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and tech tycoon Elon Musk.

The union alleged former President Trump and Elon Musk attempted to “intimidate and threaten” workers during their Monday evening interview on X.

“I mean, I look at what you do,” Trump told Musk. “You walk in, you say, You want to quit? They go on strike, I won’t mention the name of the company, but they go on strike and you say, That’s OK, you’re all gone. You’re all gone. So, every one of you is gone.”

Federal law protects workers who go on strike from being fired, and it is illegal to threaten to do so, the UAW asserted.

“When we say Donald Trump is a scab, this is what we mean. When we say Trump stands against everything our union stands for, this is what we mean,” said UAW President Shawn Fain.

Following allegations of unfair labor practices, Musk’s SpaceX has directly challenged the constitutionality of the National Labor Relations Board in a move experts warned could hobble the agency charged with investigating allegations brought by employees, unions and employers.

“Donald Trump will always side against workers standing up for themselves, and he will always side with billionaires like Elon Musk, who is contributing $45 million a month to a Super PAC to get him elected,” Fain said.

“Both Trump and Musk want working class people to sit down and shut up, and they laugh about it openly. It’s disgusting, illegal, and totally predictable from these two clowns.”

The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organization (AFL-CIO), a federation of 60 national and international labor unions, posted their own criticism of the conversation on X, saying, “Scab recognize scab.”

UAW which endorsed Vice President Harris last month in the upcoming presidential election has had a rocky relationship with Trump for years.

Following the video’s release, Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt called Fain “a puppet for the Democrat Party who is sadly not serving the millions of hardworking union laborers across the country who are supporting President Trump because they know he will protect their jobs and put them first.”
