Biden Sending Troops to Border Ahead of Expected Migrant Wave

ALERT – After spending two years ignoring the border or denying that his immigration policies have created a crisis there, Joe Biden is now implicitly admitting there’s a problem.

A big problem.

So, he is sending 1,500 U.S. troops to the border to ‘support’ agents of the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) ahead of an expected surge of up to one million illegal migrants once Title 42 ends in less than ten days.

Title 42 is the Trump-era authority limiting entry to the U.S. implemented in the wake of COVID-19. Biden is allowing it to expire on May 11.

Of course, when former President Donald Trump sent 5,200 active-duty troops to ‘harden’ the border, Democrat lawmakers went ballistic, calling the move politically motivated and said it would damage military readiness.

Trump-hating former military officials also accused Trump of abusing the military.

But don’t expect much Democrat criticism now against Biden’s move.

As I recently wrote, the Mexican drug cartels essentially own parts of America’s southern border. They also control much of the human trafficking and illegal migrant flows into the United States.

And these powerful narcos are reportedly planning to launch a massive one-million-person tsunami of migrants to overwhelm the border.

Even DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who is a major part of the problem, admitted as much last week, as reported by Politico:

…we do expect that encounters at our southern border will [be] increasing, as smugglers are seeking to take advantage of this change and already are hard at work spreading disinformation that the border will be open after that.

He added: “High encounters will place a strain on our entire system.

As a precaution, Biden is temporarily sending military personnel who will mostly perform administrative tasks and will not conduct any law enforcement work. They will be armed for self-defense only.

The Daily Caller quoted a U.S. official as saying:

At the request of DHS, DOD (Department of Defense) will provide a temporary increase of an additional 1,500 military personnel, for 90 days, to supplement CBP efforts at the border. These 1,500 military personnel will fill critical capability gaps, such as ground-based detection and monitoring, data entry, and warehouse support, until CBP can address these needs through contracted support.

DHS confirmed the order in a statement.

These active-duty, mostly Army soldiers, will join 2,500 National Guard troops already activated to assist law enforcement at the border.

Biden signed an executive order last week authorizing the deployment of active-duty forces to deal with his self-created drug trafficking crisis at the southern border.

This essentially ‘preapproved’ the new mission. However, Team Biden reportedly failed to brief the Senate Armed Services Committee’s ranking member, Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.).

Wicker nevertheless commented on the flip-flop. He said Biden who had previously shown “a lack of concern about the border” might now be “reading the polls.”

“If they would begin to resume enforcement of the law, it would be the best step possible,” Wicker added. “We are told by agents along the border that their hands are tied and they’re not allowed to enforce the law as they were earlier.”

Knowing Team Biden, this small, stop-gap measure won’t even begin to address the illegal migrant catastrophe that is coming.

Trump Dominates GOP Presidential Rivals as Biden Approval Tanking

ANALYSIS – Even as the indictments pile up, or maybe because of them, a new national NBC News poll finds former President Donald Trump expanding his national lead in the Republican presidential nominating contest to 43 points over his nearest rival, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Trump leads the first-choice field with 59% of national Republican primary voters. In comparison, Ron DeSantis gets support from 16% — followed by former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley at 7% and former Vice President Mike Pence at 4%.

The poll also includes an all-time high disapproval of Joe Biden’s job performance. Fewer than 4 in 10 voters (37%) approve of his handling of the economy. This is huge.

As NBC News reported

Deeper inside those numbers, Biden is underwater among voters between the ages of 18 and 34 (46% of them approve of his job performance), all women (46%), Latinos (43%) and independents (36%).

What’s more, the NBC News poll finds 37% of voters approve of Biden’s handling of the economy, and 41% approve of his handling of foreign policy.

Biden is also taking a big hit for his open borders policy and unprecedented waves of illegal immigration on his watch, as also shown by a recent The Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Axios noted

“A variety of factors may be at play,” [ABC News’ Gary] Langer writes in his analysis. “Biden’s poor performance ratings, the extent of economic discontent, the immigration crisis and doubts about his age clearly are relevant.”

Axios added: “In the Post-ABC poll, 44% said they’re worse off — the most for any president in the poll since… 1986, ABC News’ Gary Langer said in his poll analysis.”

“In NBC, Biden’s disapproval rating is the highest of his term for that poll.”

NBC News also noted that: “Another 60% have major concerns (45%) or moderate concerns (15%) about Biden’s possible awareness or involvement in the business dealings of his son, Hunter, including alleged financial wrongdoing and corruption.”

“This [NBC] survey is a startling flashing red light for an incumbent party,” said Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies. McInturff conducted the September 15-19 poll with Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt and his team at Hart Research Associates.

“Yes, the numbers for Biden aren’t where he needs them to be,” said Horwitt. However, Trump and Republicans have challenges, such as the GOP front-runner’s unpopularity with the general electorate.

Most polls show that both Trump and Biden have high unfavorability going into a general election.

NBC News reported: “Three-quarters of voters say they’re concerned about President Joe Biden’s age and mental fitness, while nearly two-thirds have concerns about the multiple trials former President Donald Trump faces, a new national NBC News poll finds, casting a gloomy shadow over the upcoming 2024 presidential election.”

US Marines Headed To Mexican Border Ahead Of Migrant Tsunami

1
Marines for LAR fine tune there markmenship skills at PHIBLEX in Albania

ALERT – Despite Team Biden’s frequent falsehoods regarding the border, his team and, as I wrote about earlier, some in the media see a coming crisis. As I’ve said before, the crisis has been ongoing and worsening since Joe Biden took office and immediately reversed Donald Trump’s effective border and immigration policies.

Since 2021 it has been a steadily growing wave of illegal immigration. But now, with Biden set to allow the Trump-era pandemic-related health restrictions known as Title 42 set to expire in three days, that wave is about to become a tsunami.

As I have also written, between 700,000 and one million migrants are reportedly massing on the border, just waiting to crash it. They are being egged on by the cartels and smugglers who control parts of the border.

Title 42, which allowed prompt deportation of migrants without first hearing their asylum claims, was the only major Trump border policy kept by Biden – despite several prior attempts to end it. The policy has prevented some 2.8 million border crossers from entering the U.S. since its implementation in March 2020.

Most recently, Biden ordered 1,500 active-duty troops to the border. Most critics pointed out the hypocrisy considering the vehement opposition to Trump doing something similar. Others noted that the troops would be performing mostly administrative duties, freeing Customs and Border Protection (CPB) agents to enforce the law.

According to a U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) statement on Friday, their tasks will consist of “detection and monitoring support” as well as “data entry [and] warehousing support.”

Most believed that the bulk of these troops would be Army.

But now we learn that U.S. Marines, America’s 911 force, and the warfighters who storm our enemies’ beaches are leading Biden’s military effort on the southern border.

Among the troops being deployed are:

  • The Marine Corps’ 2nd Marine Regiment, out of Camp Lejeune, N.C.;
  • USMC Combat Logistics Battalion 2, also out of Camp Lejeune;
  • And the Army’s 93rd Military Police Battalion, out of Fort Bliss, Texas.

The three units will deploy for roughly 90 days, the Pentagon has said. A small number of U.S. Air Force personnel will also deploy.”

And, according to NORTHCOM – “All DoD personnel will be in direct support of the DHS, the lead federal agency for security of the U.S. southwest border.”

NORTHCOM is the unified Pentagon command responsible for defending North America. It plans, organizes and executes homeland defense and civil support missions but has few permanently assigned forces.

As its website states:

The commander of USNORTHCOM also commands the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), a bi-national command responsible for aerospace warning, aerospace control, and maritime warning for Canada, Alaska and the continental United States.

USNORTHCOM’s civil support mission includes domestic disaster relief operations that occur during fires, hurricanes, floods and earthquakes. Support also includes counter-drug operations and managing the consequences of a terrorist event employing a weapon of mass destruction. The command provides assistance to a Primary Agency when tasked by DOD.

Per the Posse Comitatus Act, military forces can provide civil support, but cannot become directly involved in law enforcement. [emphasis added]

The active duty forces are expected to arrive by Wednesday just before Title 42 finally expires just before midnight Friday morning.

Officially, the newly arriving Marines and soldiers “will not be permitted to support migrant processing and escort duties or other activities that involve direct participation in civilian law enforcement activities,” and they won’t “be responsible for property seized from migrants or require direct contact with migrants.”

That is the law.

But if that’s true, why send a Marine combat regiment to the border rather than more administrative units?

Biden’s Pick for Chairman of Joint Chiefs Used Racist Hiring Practices

ANALYSIS – In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision striking down Affirmative Action at top universities as unconstitutional, the same race-based policies used to achieve ‘diversity’ elsewhere are being scrutinized nationwide, including at the Pentagon.

And now we learn that Joe Biden’s pick to replace Army General Mark Milley as the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, himself had racist hiring practices.

That could make him ineligible to be the nation’s top military officer.

Air Force General Charles Q. (CQ) Brown, a man of color, is accused of making “discriminatory comments and potential unlawful impact on military personnel,” according to the American Accountability Foundation (AFF).

The AFF was set up in early 2021 to expose the leftist backgrounds of Biden’s top nominees.

Multiple sources have reported that Brown made statements while chief of staff for the Air Force and during his previous tour as Pacific Air Forces commander suggesting that he hired personnel and promoted them based on race, rather than merit, to force diversity in the Air Force.

“Race-based hiring has no place in the military. Our men and women in uniform deserve to be led on missions by the most qualified and skilled officers and leaders our nation has, who will give them the best chance of success and getting home safely,” said the AFF in a statement.

Considering the accusations against Brown, the AAF filed a complaint with the Air Force Inspector General and requested an official investigation into Brown’s allegedly discriminatory comments and practices.

As the Daily Caller (DC) reported:

While serving as the Air Force’s chief of staff and before that as Pacific Air Forces commander, Brown made statements suggesting he selects individuals for certain roles and promotions based on their race to build purposefully diverse organizations, multiple sources show. Brown could be violating the Fourteenth Amendment’s equal protection clause that prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, the American Accountability Foundation (AAF) argues, making him ineligible to become the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The DC added:

If Brown has acted upon his “publicly stated beliefs on what should be official hiring policy of the U.S. Air Force [race-based hiring], it would present a significant likelihood of violating the civil and constitutional rights of military personnel” as well as Department of Defense (DOD) codes of conduct, AAF said.

And records appear to show that Brown did exactly that.  Brown’s diversity policies appear to have prioritized bringing on non-white officers and recruits. The Air Force Times reported that 2022, Brown changed the Air Force’s demographic goals for officers to 67% of them being white, down from 80% in 2014.

But things have only gotten worse under Brown. According to a February 2023 Air Force newsletter, the Air Force also recently pledged to track officer promotions based on “race, ethnicity and gender.”

So now the discrimination Brown has implemented isn’t only against white men, its against straight white men as well.

I agree with AFF’s concerns, if these allegations are confirmed they should make ‘CQ Brown ineligible to serve as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. And the United States Senate should not confirm him to that lofty role.

Is ‘The Fix In’ Again? What’s Up With Hunter Biden’s Legal Case?

ANALYSIS – Federal prosecutors are seeking a grand jury indictment of Joe Biden’s son, Hunter. And while the investigation is a fresh setback to his father’s 2024 re-election bid, some believe ‘the fix could still be in.’

It is unclear what charges the U.S. Attorney for Delaware David Weiss plans to file against Hunter.

But, according to court papers, the newly named ‘special counsel’ said he expects an indictment before September 29, which is just before the statute of limitations runs out on Hunter’s felony gun charge.

Of course, the time has almost run out because Weiss took years to complete the hyper simple investigation — and is still stalling.

And Weiss didn’t have to announce the grand jury indictment is coming. He could have just done it instead.

The court filing is related to a felony gun charge alleging that Hunter Biden illegally possessed a firearm in October 2018 while he was a drug user. He is also under federal investigation for his business dealings and failing to pay taxes on tens of millions of dollars earned mostly from shady foreign sources in 2017 and 2018.

In June, Hunter Biden agreed to a sweetheart plea deal where he would plead guilty to misdemeanor tax offences, and separately get a ‘diversion’ program for the gun charge. The plea agreement fell apart after U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, appointed by President Donald Trump, correctly questioned it during a court appearance in July.

It turned out Hunter Biden believed the deal would give him blanket immunity from any future prosecution. Federal prosecutors were forced to admit that wasn’t really the case.

Weiss didn’t have the authority to give global blanket immunity then. But as ‘special counsel’ appointed by Joe Biden, Weiss does now.

Due to foot dragging and failures to cooperate by the FBI and other federal agencies, congressional Republicans are considering launching an impeachment inquiry against Joe Biden, alleging that he had played a role in his son’s shady foreign business affairs and influence peddling scheme.

The inquiry would give the Congress full authority to force the reluctant, partisan bureaucrats to pony up all records requested.

In July, the House of Representatives oversight committee said bank records showed Joe Biden’s family and associates received $20 million from oligarchs in Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine during his vice presidency from 2009-2017.

“If you look at all the information we have been able to gather so far, it is a natural step forward that you would have to go to an impeachment inquiry,” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy recently said on Fox News.

That’s why the actions of Weiss are concerning. Many legal experts, and Republican opponents, see Weiss using the gun charge as leverage to get Hunter to renegotiate another, similarly weak, plea deal.

As the New York Post reported:

David Weinstein, a former federal prosecutor, told The Post that an indictment on that gun charge is “not that significant” and could be merely “a placeholder” — meaning Weiss could still potentially bring a case against Biden related to any potential illegal foreign dealings or felony tax charges.

“It’s holding in place the ability to use his leverage — a felony gun charge — in negotiations with Hunter Biden to resolve his global criminal exposure,” Weinstein said.

Cornell Law Professor Robert Hockett told The Post he agreed that an indictment on the gun charge could be used to bring about a larger settlement to shut all this down.

Weinstein added that he doesn’t believe Weiss “is going to end up playing hardball” in potential negotiations with Hunter’s legal team.

But Hockett said that Weiss would be cautious to avoid the appearance of going easy on the president’s son, especially given the barrage of criticism Weiss received on the prior plea deal.

Still, the GOP-led Congress should move ahead forcefully on an impeachment inquiry. It may be the only way to finally get to the truth about the Bidens’ shady deals.

Anti-Trump Political Witch Hunt or Valid Criminal Indictments?

8
Gage Skidmore Flickr

ANALYSIS – Former President Donald Trump faces a slew of legal onslaughts, the latest being a federal indictment by Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) for violating the Espionage Act by mishandling classified information.

Like the FBI raid on his Florida home, this divisive and politically charged indictment is an unprecedented development that makes him the first former president in U.S. history to face criminal charges by the federal government.

And the political fallout will be huge.

Trump denies any wrongdoing and is calling the indictments a witch hunt. And yes, he has been unfairly targeted before – many times.

But is this case really part of that same anti-Trump vendetta? And does it matter?

The latest indictment is for the willful retention of highly classified national security documents at his Florida Mar-a-Lago estate, corruptly concealing documents, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and making false statements.

Many will point to the later discovery of classified documents in Joe Biden’s homes and properties connected to him without him facing criminal charges (yet) as proof that this is an anti-Trump witch hunt.

Last week, the DOJ also cleared former Vice President Mike Pence of any wrongdoing after a small number of classified documents were found at his Indiana home in January.

Trump posted a slew of angry social media posts against federal investigators Tuesday highlighting different treatment.

“The Marxists and Fascists in the DOJ & FBI are going after me at a level and speed never seen before in our Country, and I did nothing wrong,” Trump wrote in one of several posts.

And yes, as I have repeatedly written about, the DOJ and the FBI have been heavily politicized, or even weaponized against conservatives.

But, as with Richard Nixon and Watergate, the problem for Trump here is the cover-up. Had he simply returned the documents once they were discovered, it would have been far less likely he would have been indicted.

Instead, Trump repeatedly refused to turn over the materials to federal officials once he left the White House, and then provided a series of bizarre justifications for his actions, before the FBI raided his home.

A separate special counsel is investigating Biden’s handling of classified material after documents were found at his Wilmington, Del., home and a Washington, D.C., office from his time as vice president.

The difference here is Biden’s team alerted federal officials upon discovering the documents and promptly turned them over.

Trump’s own former Attorney General Bill Barr pushed back on Trump’s claims that a special counsel’s ongoing documents probe is politically motivated.

As reported by The Hill:

“Over time, people will see that this is not a case of the Department of Justice conducting a witch hunt,” Barr said in an interview on CBS on Tuesday. “In fact, they approached this very delicately and with deference to the president, and this would have gone nowhere had the president just returned the documents. But he jerked them around for a year and a half.”

The indictment carries serious legal consequences, including the possibility of prison if he’s convicted. Trump will appear at a federal courthouse in Miami on June 13.

In March, the notoriously liberal, Soros-backed Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, indicted Trump on state charges related to hush-money payments to a former porn film star in 2016.

That local indictment appears far more political and ‘Trumped-up’ (pun not intended) than this federal one. The trial for this case begins in March 2024.

Jack Smith, the special counsel coordinating federal investigations into the Espionage Act indictments, oversees other inquiries related to Trump, including those regarding the Capitol Riot on January 6, 2021.

But none of this will prevent Trump from continuing his campaign for president. “Nothing stops Trump from running while indicted, or even convicted,” University of California, Los Angeles law professor Richard Hasen told CNN.

The Constitution requires only three things of candidates. They must be a natural-born citizen (not a naturalized one), at least 35 years old, and residents of the U.S. for at least 14 years.

So theoretically, Trump could be convicted and still be elected President.

Not only won’t this keep Trump from running, but it will probably help him with his core base of supporters in the GOP primary.

And Trump won’t even go to trial for any of this until well into the next presidential term.

But the optics and politics of all this is the biggest issue.

As the Daily Caller reported Pence as saying: “I think this is going to be terribly divisive for the country. I also think it sends a terrible message to the wider world that looks at America as a standard of not only democracy, but of justice.”

The question is when does all of this come to a head? And what will happen when it does?
