Key Group of Donors Turn on McDaniel Ahead of Leadership Vote

0

A powerful group of Republican donors is calling for a change in leadership at the Republican National Committee (RNC).

On Monday, more than two dozen Republicans wrote in a letter stating their support for former Trump attorney Harmeet Dhillon’s challenge to current RNC chair Ronna McDaniel.

Several of the individuals listed in the letter have donated tens of thousands of dollars to the GOP over the years.

“We cannot continue on our current trajectory as a Republican Party,” the letter states. “We must change, in order to fulfill our promise to Republican voters to win elections.”

The donors warned the party “is on the verge of permanent irrelevance if we fail to come together to correct course.”

“As a nationally-recognized constitutional attorney and activist within the conservative movement for several decades, Harmeet has fought on behalf of Republican Party committees, candidates, and GOP interests, both with the party’s support and beyond it. She has served as a county party committee chairman, run for public office, fought for conservative causes at the Supreme Court, and currently leads the Republican National Lawyers Association at a time when election integrity experience is at a premium as a year-round, not seasonal, mandate. Harmeet is also a successful business owner, and as a nonprofit founder and CEO, understands the ethical duties inherent in raising and spending donor funds.”

McDaniel has served as the RNC’s chair since 2017, however, less-than-desirable midterm wins have caused some to question her leadership.

Other key Republicans have signaled interest in new leadership atop the national party organization.

According to The Hill, the Alabama Republican Party has opted to follow the Texas GOP’s lead and will not support McDaniel’s latest bid to run the RNC.

An endorsement letter circulated last month contained the signatures of 107 RNC members backing her to stay on as chairwoman. It is well more than the 84 members she would need to win reelection.

The party will choose its leader at its winter meetings this month.

Former Trump Org. CFO Sentenced to Notorious Prison

2

Allen Weisselberg, the former chief financial officer for the Trump Organization, is expected to be sent to Rikers Island jail in New York after receiving his sentence for his participation in a tax fraud scheme.

Wesselberg, along with other top executives, pled guilty to running the scheme for the past 15 years where he and others received bonuses and other kickbacks designed to save the real estate company money.

On Tuesday, the CFO was sentenced to five months in jail as well as pay nearly $2 million in taxes, penalties, and interest, and serve five years of probation.

Rikers Island is one of New York’s most well-known jails and has become notorious for violence and drug use.

The Washington Examiner reports:

Weisselberg’s sentence comes one month after prosecutors and defense lawyers gave their closing arguments in the criminal tax fraud trial against the Trump Organization, wrapping up the yearslong investigation into the former president’s company and its financial dealings. The former CFO emerged as the prosecutor’s star witness after he testified that he had accepted illegal compensation for his own benefit and hid the payments from the company’s outside accountant. The former CFO continued this practice for years, ending it once Donald Trump was elected president and his company’s business practices came under new scrutiny.

Weisselberg’s testimony strengthened prosecutors’ accusations that the Trump Organization paid for the personal expenses of several company executives without reporting them as income. These payments included paying for the managers’ rent, car lease payments, and other expenses. Prosecutors also alleged the company partially paid these executives as independent contractors rather than company employees.

The Trump Organization pleaded not guilty, and defense lawyers sought to point the finger solely at Weisselberg.

DOJ Subpoenas Rudy Giuliani

The Department of Justice subpoenaed former President Donald Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani in connection with a probe into fundraising efforts following the 2020 election.

According to CNN, the DOJ first issued the subpoena in November seeking documents from Giuliani about payments he received during the period when he was filing post-election lawsuits on behalf of the Trump campaign.

The inquiry to Giuliani came from David Rody, a former top prosecutor in New York who specializes in gang and conspiracy cases and is assisting Smith with examining a broader criminal conspiracy after the election, according to some of the sources.

In response to being informed of CNN’s reporting on Giuliani’s subpoena and asked for a statement, Ted Goodman, his adviser, said, “The mayor is unaware of the specific claims by this so-called ‘anonymous source,’ and therefore is not in position to respond.”

Giuliani is already facing fallout, including a preliminary determination from the D.C. bar association that he violated rules of professional conduct in filing the suits, a matter that could eventually result in the loss of his law license.

Donald Trump has a strong message for Senate Republicans.

The former President called for the ouster of roughly a third of the Republican Senate caucus following the passing of a massive $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill.

According to Mediaite, Trump initially took to social media to congratulate Kevin McCarthy on becoming Speaker after 15 rounds of votes before changing his tune.

He then turned his ire to “Mitch McConnell and his China flagrant boss, Coco Chow.” Of course he is making another racialized reference to Elaine Chao, who served as Secretary of Transportation in his own administration. “Something is wrong with McConnell, and those Republican Senators that Vote with him,” he wrote. “PRIMARY THEM ALL!!!”

    His full message reads:

Great job Kevin! We must now stop Mitch McConnell and his China flagrant boss, Coco Chow. It’s as though he just doesn’t care anymore, he pushes through anything the Democrats want. The $1.7 TRILLION quickly approved Bill of the week before was HORRIBLE. Zero for USA Border Security. If he waited just ten days, the now “United Republican Congress” could have made it MUCH BETTER, or KILLED IT. Something is wrong with McConnell, and those Republican Senators that Vote with him. PRIMARY THEM ALL!!!

Following is a list of the 18 Republican Senators who voted to pass the spending bill, however, Senators Blunt and Shelby have since retired.

    • Roy Blunt (Missouri)
    • John Boozman (Arkansas)
    • Shelley Capito (West Virginia)
    • Susan Collins (Maine)
    • John Cornyn (Texas)
    • Tom Cotton (Arkansas)
    • Lindsey Graham (South Carolina)
    • Jim Inhofe (Oklahoma)
    • Mitch McConnell (Kentucky)
    • Jerry Moran (Kansas)

Georgia Jury Concludes Trump Criminal Investigation Report

The special purpose jury in Fulton County, Georgia, has finished its final report on its investigation into alleged criminal efforts by former President Donald Trump and others during the 2020 election.

The special jury, requested by District Attorney Fani Willis and approved last January, reportedly submitted its final report and will await the ruling of Judge Robert McBurney on whether to make it public.

A hearing is scheduled for Jan. 24, according to Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Bill Rankin.

Willis opened the investigation last year after audio surfaced of a call between Raffensperger and Trump, where the former president pushed the secretary of state to “find” 11,780 votes to secure a win in Georgia and overturn his loss in the 2020 election against President Joe Biden.

The special grand jury was granted the power to help dole out subpoenas and recommend charges, however, it lacks the authority to indict on its own.

This is What Byron Donalds Got In Exchange for Voting McCarthy as Speaker

      4

After an epic 15-rounds of voting the U.S. House of Representatives finally have a Speaker.

Kevin McCarthy’s road to the Speaker’s office was filled with twists, turns, and a number of concessions as the California lawmaker desperately fought to convince nearly 20 hardline Republicans to sway their votes in his favor.

Rep. Byron Donalds (Fla.) was among a group of 20 hardline Republicans who refused to vote for McCarthy after he initially voted in his favor. He later switched to support Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) before his fellow Republicans nominated him for the role.

Ultimately, Donalds revealed to Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo that he is being placed on the House Republican Steering Committee in exchange for supporting Kevin McCarthy for House speaker.

“I’m frankly just happy that it’s all over with, and that we got something transformational and sound for the American people,” Donalds said.

The committee’s purpose is to assign fellow Republicans to other House committees. Donalds noted that his appointment to the Steering Committee was an important step to having “more [Republican] voices on more committees.”

“Early on I gave Kevin the benefit of the doubt. But it came pretty quickly clear to me that we were getting nowhere. And so, at that point, it was saying, ‘OK, how long is this going to go? What’s this going to play out like?’” Donalds said. “And so it was really about trying to make sure that we can get people to the table in order to construct a framework that everybody in our conference can get behind.”

AP ‘Stylebook’ – How the Left Manipulates Abortion Language to Manipulate News

      0
      Washington D.C., USA - January 22, 2015; A Pro-Life woman clashes with a group of Pro-Choice demonstrators at the U.S. Supreme Court.

ANALYSIS – Most conservatives understand that one of the left’s major weapons in the war of ideas is manipulating language and using well-researched buzzwords and phrases to change reality and mask their more extreme ideas.

We see it every day with the constant use of ‘gun violence’ rather than shooting or murder committed by a criminal. We see it with ‘global warming’ becoming ‘climate change’ when the facts don’t support the narrative.

We also see it with the insanely deceptive and grotesque ‘gender-affirming care’ rather for genital-mutilating sex-change surgery.

And of course, we see it in spades with abortion, where supporting the unrestricted killing of unborn babies in the womb becomes ‘reproductive health care rights,’ previously known as being ‘pro-choice.’

The new term is far better politically since it appears to somehow be about rights and health, not deception and killing. Plus, ‘pro-choice’ has been thoroughly sullied by its accurate association with being ‘pro-abortion.’

      And we can’t have that.

And now, since the Dobbs decision correctly returned the abortion issue to the states where it always belonged, the battle to control the language, and hence the narrative on abortion, is intensifying.

And it just got a lot worse.

The latest words and phrases chosen by the left to describe or refer to abortion fly in the face of fact and science.

But the leftist language warriors are now being reinforced by the power behind the news media – the Associated Press—and its widely used ‘Stylebook.’

      The Daily Signal reports:

The Associated Press recently released a guide for news outlets for reporting on abortion that’s so biased in favor of the procedure, its guidance often runs contrary to medical science. The new guide has the ability to significantly distort how Americans perceive the abortion issue.

The AP’s “Abortion Topical Guide” is part of the widely used “AP Stylebook” that many outlets across the country, including The Daily Signal, use as a guide for everything from grammar to punctuation to best practices for terms and phrasing.

One glaring problem among many? The guide frequently cites the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to back up its guidance. ACOG claims to be the premier professional membership organization of OB-GYNs. But on the issue of abortion—a procedure that most OB-GYNs don’t perform—ACOG is wholly committed to lobbying for extreme abortion policies that don’t reflect its membership’s views.

In typical Orwellian fashion, the leftists at AP cudgel writers into referring to an unborn child’s “heartbeat,” which is detectable via ultrasound from the very early stages of life to the deliberately bland and mostly meaningless term “cardiac activity.”

The Stylebook also inappropriately enters the scientific realm as self-made medical experts when it advises writers not to refer to unborn children as “pain-capable” until after at least 24 weeks.

This, even though the beloved doctors who actually perform surgeries on ‘preemies,’ or premature babies in utero, regularly use anesthesia for those babies under 24 weeks because they feel pain.

The AP’s demonic advice also contradicts the massive, and growing, body of research showing unborn babies can feel pain at just 15 weeks or even earlier.

And most importantly, the Stylebook admonishes writers to never, ever use the accurate but uncomfortable phrase – ‘late-term abortion.’

Polls show a solid majority of Americans are opposed to late-term abortions, so best to religiously (pun intended) avoid the term.

      The Daily Signal concludes:

The AP guide misses the mark throughout. Of course, that’s inevitable when the goal is not objective reporting of fact but rather promoting pro-abortion propaganda. Try as the AP might, it’s a fool’s errand to put lipstick on a pig.

I go further by saying AP is part of the left’s far-flung language-distorting media empire intended to manipulate words, in order to manipulate news, in order to manipulate you.
