Donald Trump has eyes set on the future.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump is eyeing a number of high-profile Wall Street and Washington veterans as candidates for Treasury secretary if he wins another term in the White House.

    WSJ continues:

The April 6 event in Palm Beach, Fla., is being hosted by billionaire hedge-fund manager John Paulson and co-chaired by investor Scott Bessent, both of whom have caught Trump’s eye as he weighs who he will nominate for key cabinet positions, according to people familiar with the matter.

Other people Trump’s allies have discussed for Treasury secretary include: Robert Lighthizer, the former president’s top trade adviser; former Trump administration Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Jay Clayton; and JPMorgan Chase Chief Executive Jamie Dimon.

The Trump campaign is also courting Blackstone CEO and former Trump donor Steve Schwarzman, who in 2022 broke with the former president, saying he planned to back “a new generation” of Republican leaders. Schwarzman hasn’t made a final decision but is considering supporting Trump’s re-election effort, according to people close to him. Some Trump advisers have also mentioned Schwarzman as a potential Treasury secretary.

Notorious Criminal Speaks Out Ahead Of Trump Hush Money Trial

      0

On Tuesday, MSNBC’s Ari Melber interviewed incarcerated convicted felon Michael Avenatti to get his thoughts on former President Donald Trump’s fast-approaching New York criminal hush money trial.

Avenatti, a disbarred attorney, is currently serving 19 years for extortion, fraud, obstruction, and identity theft. Some of those charges stem from his theft of proceeds from a book by his former client, Stormy Daniels.

The former president faces 34 charges linked to hush money payments made by his ex-fixer to porn actress Stormy Daniels to cover up an alleged affair ahead of the 2016 election. He has pleaded not guilty.

Trump is scheduled to head to trial in his New York criminal case on April 15.

      Mediaite has more:

“Michael, have you been in touch with D.A. Bragg’s office?” Melber asked. “And what specifically in evidence or logic do you think is wrong with this case?”

“I’m going to decline to answer as to whether I’ve been in touch with either the defense or the D.A.s office,” Avenatti replied. “But let me say this in response to the second part of your question. You know, I think the case has a lot of problems. Now that– I don’t mean to suggest that means that Trump will not be convicted because I think he will be convicted because number one, he’s a criminal defendant in our society. I don’t believe criminal defendants generally get a fair shake.”

Avenatti then echoed attorneys for Trump, who have unsuccessfully attempted to secure a change of venue. He said:

I don’t think that he can get a fair trial in New York. And to the people who claim that in fact, he can get a fair trial in New York with a New York jury, I would ask them, if they were to go to sleep tonight and wake up tomorrow and find out that the case had been moved to Mississippi or Alabama, would they still think the trial was going to be fair?

And I think if they were being honest, they would answer no. So, I don’t think he can get a fair trial in New York.

On Monday, a judge in New York denied a request for a delay in his hush money trial. Trump’s attorneys argued for the trial to be relocated from Manhattan and postponed as they pursue the matter.

Trump’s attorneys argued for the trial to be relocated from Manhattan and postponed as they pursue the matter. His attorneys argued that Manhattan, a well-known liberal bastion, was not an appropriate location for the Republican president’s case. They requested a change of venue to Staten Island, the only borough in New York City that Trump won in both 2016 and 2020.

House Democrat Files Revenge Bill Following Trump Airport Proposal

On Sunday, Virginia Rep. Gerry Connolly defended his proposal saying he thinks it’s “only fitting” to name a federal prison after former President Trump

“Well, there’s a nice federal penitentiary right near Mar-a-Lago. And I just thought for a guy who’s now got 88 criminal indictments pending, criminal — plus two major civil penalty trials that have already been resolved, costing him about a half a billion dollars,” Connolly told MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart.

“I think it’s only fitting that if Republicans really want to honor Donald Trump, the most appropriate way to do that is to name a federal prison he might be visiting soon, after Donald J. Trump,” Connolly added.

Connolly was one of three Democrats to introduce a bill Friday to change the name of the Miami Federal Correctional Institution in Florida to “Donald J. Trump Federal Correctional Institution.”

Connolly was joined by Reps. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) and John Garamendi (D-Calif.).

The proposal came in response to a Republican push to rename Washington Dulles International Airport after Trump.

Report: Brothers Plead Guilty To Insider Trading Tied to Trump Media Company

Two brothers pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday for their roles in an insider trading scheme.

Florida venture capitalist Michael Shvartsman, 53, and his brother, Gerald, 46, each pleaded guilty to one count of securities fraud, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman set the brothers’ sentencing hearing for July 17.

According to the Department of Justice, the brothers obtained confidential information about details of the deal, including the timeline of its announcement, and then bought millions of dollars’ worth of DWAC securities on the open market before the merger with Trump Media went public.

          The Hill reports:

“Michael and Gerald Shvartsman admitted in court that they received confidential, inside information about an upcoming merger between DWAC and Trump Media and used that information to make profitable, but illegal, open-market trades,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a press release Wednesday from the Department of Justice.

“Insider trading is cheating, plain and simple, and today’s convictions should remind anyone who may be tempted to corrupt the integrity of the stock market that it will earn them a ticket to prison,” Williams added.

The Shvartsmans were arrested last June, along with a third individual, Bruce Garelick, who had worked at Michael Shvartsman’s Rocket One Capital venture firm. Garelick, who was placed on DWAC’s board of directors, is accused of providing critical information to the brothers about the forthcoming deal in 2021. Garelick is set to go to trial at the end of this month.

Report: Trump’s Truth Social Lost $58 Million in 2023

Trump might be banking on his now-public company becoming his cash cow but financial filings are showing a concerning big picture.

Last week, the parent company of Trump’s Truth Social media company went public as the likely Republican nominee seeks to pay off numerous legal bills.

            Mediaite has more:

Trump holds upwards of 78 million shares in the firm, officially dubbed Trump Media & Technology Group, that are now worth billions of dollars after the initial round of sales of company stock.

But according to the company’s SEC filings, the fundamentals do not come remotely close to justifying the stock price. In fact, it brough in just $4.1 million in revenue in 2023 and suffered a net loss of over $58 million. A majority of those losses are attributable to its debt, although its operating costs were still approximately four times higher than its revenue stream.

Trump is not allowed to sell his shares for six months, and some analysts have predicted that a Trump-led sell-off will trigger a major dip in stocks.

Former New York Assistant Attorney General Adam Pollock has argued that the company is “essentially worthless” and Fox Business host Stuart Varney predicted that the stock would crash if it looks like Trump is going to lose his bid to retake the White House.

“I think it’s almost like a meme stock, and that’s the way it’ll play out,” said Varney. “It’s a bet on whether Trump wins or loses in November of this year. If he loses, I think the stock goes way down. If he wins or looks like he’s going to win, I think the stock does well because then Truth Social will do well.”

Democrats are losing faith in Joe Biden…

According to a recent New York Times report, President Barack Obama was has “grave concern” that President Joe Biden will lose to former President Donald Trump in November, which has caused him to get involved.

With just over seven months until the presidential election, Biden has been making regular calls to Obama in an effort to discuss the 2024 race for the White House, according to The NYT. Obama, though, is reportedly making calls of his own to Biden’s chief of staff Jeff Zients and other top aides to discuss strategy.

The former president’s involvement reportedly comes from a place of fear that his former vice president will lose his reelection bid in 2024, an aide told the White House. Obama has “always” been worried about Biden’s reelection chances, the aide told The NYT.

Because of his concerns, Obama is prepared to “eke it out” to help Biden in what some are expecting to be a close election, the aide told The NYT.

On Thursday, Obama attended a star-studded Democrat fundraiser in New York City to support President Biden.

The Trump family is full of talents.

On Thursday night, RNC chair Lara Trump released her second single and teased the release of several more songs coming soon.

According to Mediaite, Trump—who made headlines with her 2023 cover of Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down”—spontaneously dropped yet another single, “Anything is Possible,” at midnight on Thursday evening.

“A little something I had fun with over the winter,” wrote Trump in a social media post announcing the song. “And a few more too that I’ll save for a future date, special for my YUGE fans in the liberal media [winky face emoji].”

In the uplifting single about faith, which is currently available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music, Trump sings, “I’ve had my ups and downs, cried when no one’s around. Still I gotta put my game face on, even when I’m not feeling strong. No matter how it seems, I wouldn’t trade a thing, ’cause all of it makes me who I am.”

She continues in the chorus, “Don’t think, just jump, you can’t give up. Know that anything is possible. Have faith, believe, just trust, you’ll see, anything is possible.”

It is unclear whether Trump currently has an album in the works or whether she has just produced a collection of singles.

Earlier this month, Trump was elected to serve as co-chair of the Republican National Committee following Ronna McDaniel’s exit.

Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, April 2, the same day as the Wisconsin presidential primary.

Preparations are underway for a 5 p.m. rally at the Hyatt Regency’s KI Convention Center, a sprawling 80,000-square-foot venue in the heart of downtown Green Bay, capable of accommodating almost any crowd.

Naturally, Biden for President Wisconsin Press Secretary Timothy White tried to steal Trump’s thunder by issuing a scornful statement to WLUK Green Bay:

After many visits to Wisconsin from President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democratic leaders, Donald Trump finally decided to make time to visit our state in between his busy schedule of hiding out in his country club, calling for cuts to Social Security, and calling into white supremacist radio shows to spew antisemitism. This November, Wisconsin will send him packing just like we did in 2020.

Tickers are available here. Attendees can register for up to two tickets per mobile phone number. All tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake just scored a major endorsement.

According to The Daily Caller, Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley (R) is reportedly planning to endorse Lake on Monday for U.S. Senate.

“I am proud to endorse Kari Lake for Senate in Arizona. Kari is a proven conservative outsider and fighter who will deliver border security and economic security for Arizonans,” Hawley told the Caller.

Hawley said Lake would be the perfect candidate to shake things up in Washington and defeat her Democratic opponent, Rep. Ruben Gallego. The senator also said she will deliver on border security and economic security for Arizonans.

The Arizona Republican, who unsuccessfully ran for governor in 2022, is heavily favored to win the GOP primary.

“Senator Hawley is a proven America First fighter. I am thrilled to have his endorsement for Senate in Arizona. I look forward to working with him to Save America from the Far-Left,” Lake told the Caller in response to Hawley’s endorsement.

Lake has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso, Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton, Tennessee Sen. Bill Hagerty, Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall, Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville, Indiana Rep. Jim Banks and New York Rep. Elise Stefanik. The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has also endorsed Lake.

Cook Political rates the Arizona Senate as a toss-up.

Trump Responds To NBC Firing Ronna McDaniel

It has been a rough few days for former Republican National Committee (RNC) chair…

NBC News cut ties with the Republican after 5 days following swift backlash from a number of MSNBC hosts.

Donald Trump quickly piled on after the news broke.

“Wow! Ronna McDaniel got fired by Fake News NBC. She only lasted two days, and this after McDaniel went out of her way to say what they wanted to hear,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social website on Tuesday. “It leaves her in a very strange place, it’s called NEVER NEVERLAND, and it’s not a place you want to be.”

“These Radical Left Lunatics are CRAZY, and the top people at NBC ARE WEAK,” Trump wrote in his Truth Social post on Tuesday. “They were BROKEN and EMBARRASSED by LOW RATINGS, HIGHLY OVERPAID, ‘TALENT.’ BRING BACK FREE AND FAIR PRESS.”

In a note to NBC staff on Tuesday, NBCUniversal News Group Chair Cesar Conde apologized for bringing McDaniel on board as a paid contributor and explained the decision “was made because of our deep commitment to presenting our audiences with a widely diverse set of viewpoints and experiences, particularly during these consequential times.”

McDaniel on Tuesday was reportedly exploring legal options in the event the network terminated its agreement with her, which was announced late last week and was slated to pay her more than six figures annually.

McDaniel stepped down as head of the Republican National Committee earlier this year.
